Stupid people, hard work, good friends
Oh my God! The overnighters are terminally stupid! I finally had to not only put up that fixture I was waiting on (one that construction should have taken care of) but I had to build or finish building two other fixtures that the overnighters just didn’t finish. That was after we all had to go pick up the stuff that had fallen off a counter they moved without jacks or wheels. Yep, they just slid it across the floor. The brand new floor. Morons.
And don’t even get me started about the restaurant that we all go to for breakfast. Six weeks ago we added twenty-five people to their morning traffic that always show up at exactly the same time, yet they never have any food ready and they never have enough breakfast food, if you’re at the back of the line you’re going to end up buying lunch really early or not eating at all. Today it took TWENTY MINUTES to get my food, which would be unremarkable if it weren’t a FAST FOOD restaurant and my break wasn’t FIFTEEN MINUTES long. If any of those people had been working there more than an hour they deserve to be fired. Just so you know I’m not just downing these people because they work in a fast food place, I managed three different fast food restaurants and have experience in both fine dining and casual dining. I’m a little out of practice but I *do* know incompetence when I see it, and I saw a lot of it at that restaurant today.
OK, now that I’ve got that off my chest, today was actually pretty good if you ignore the rampant stupidity that I had no control over. We got about three-quarters of the fixtures that were built set, which is pretty good considering I didn’t finish building until after lunch. We were rocking today. The head project manager person came back today and even she said we were doing a good job. Hooray us! Boo stupid restaurant people!
Hump day is over (mostly) and I get to load up the truck tomorrow night and check out Friday morning. It’s been a little strange. Maybe last week was just a bad week. I really didn’t want to come back, but Ember made me. She got all dirty and invoked the fact that I said I’d do it, calling on my sense of personal honor to make me come back.
Thanks. Keep it up, sometimes I’m going to need help, and you know I’ll do the same for you when you need it.
See you Friday.
not a prob. you said that you will do it and do it you will…sorry we didn’t talk much today, it was a good sleepy day and i did lots of good sleeping.
