Still no word from the source
Yeah, not a peep out of her so far. Still. I don’t know if they went out of town or anything, the kids had a four-day weekend (Fri-Mon) from school so her mom or their dads might have had them. I can only assume that if she’s going to bother telling me she’ll do it in person, but I did sort of expect her to make more of an effort. Surely she doesn’t expect me to call *her* and ask what the hell is going on? Since this is day three I have to wonder if she’s just going to cut and run and say to hell with everything we’ve been through the past two years.
Last night was a disaster. I never did get back to sleep, so it all came crashing down on me like a freight train right after lunch. Fortunately one of the new managers took over the department I had been trying to stock and I was able to get some evals written. Of course I was so tired that I didn’t realize as I was typing them and printing them that I was using the wrong print button on the screen. The eval forms pop up in an Adobe plug-in window, and I wasn’t using the print button from that toolbar, I was using the File->Print option from the main toolbar. Oh, and since all we have at work are thin clients I’m not able to save copies of the evals so once I (thought) I had them printed I reset the form and moved on. I was seriously pissed at myself. I probably should not have even stayed if I was that tired, but I was stuck.
So I went back and re-typed three of them (the fourth one was still on the screen when I realized what I’d done) and then went and found something else to do. The good news is that our new facility manager has more than a little sense and asked why the store kept looking like it did, and I told him that in addition to the four people we already have in the hiring pipeline we need four more, so he was going to get with HR and get those openings posted in the system today. If they are there tonight I’ll go through and put names on them and we’ll get that ball rolling. I think he realizes what I’ve been telling people all along – the best way to get your payroll percentage down is not to cut payroll, it’s to increase sales, which you can’t do if you keep cutting payroll. We actually had a pretty good week last week and this week has started off with increases as well. I can only imagine how much better the store would look and how much more in sales we could have done if we’d had the people we haven’t replaced over the past three or four months.
That’s all for now. As you can see from the time I’m up early again, but I managed another hour today. There may have been a boo-boo on the dates with the training thing I have to go to so I may have one more overnight shift after all. I’d really rather not work it, since I’ll have to be there with Mego, but I guess that’s what they pay me for, right?
it doesn’t put the time silly….hope you have a better night tonight!! and you should just let her go, be done with it. if she calls you ignore it, if she wasn’t nice enough to tell you when she told the rest she doesn’t deserve your attention.
