Still moving
Got my fridge today! It’s got an ice maker! Yay! I finally feel civilized again: central air, dishwasher, ice maker, and full-size washer/dryer hookups. And to top it all off I’m paying about the same I was (for a slightly smaller place) in 1992.
I have Wi-Fi out at the picnic area, which is cool. Both the .11g and .11b networks reach out there.
Got most of my entertainment center back in place today, but I ditched the A/V receiver. I’ll just donate it at the local thrift store. It’s just too outdated, and the TV has enough inputs that I can do without it for now. I’ll be getting another one in a few months though, so no worries. I’m also gonna grab me a TiVo Series 3 HD DVR on clearance from TiVo.com. It’ll only hold 20 hours of HD video, but I don’t think I’ll ever have that much waiting for me. Besides, I’ll still have the Series 2 in the other room to grab the standard def stuff. As a plus, since it’ll be networked, I’ll be able to watch the standard def stuff on the Series 2 on the HD box in the living room on the nice TV. I love TiVo.
All I have left at the old place now is a little bit of food, two nightstands, my bed, and a lot of crates. If I don’t get it all moved tomorrow I’ll get it for sure on my next off cycle. I’m leaning towards only doing a cursory cleaning at the old place since I’m not going to get my deposit back anyway. Not sure though, it might make me feel bad.
Earlier today it was of the utmost importance that I find out if there was an electrical outlet out on my screen-in porch (and there is) but now I can’t for the life of me remember why it was so important. Oh well, the outlet is there, and I’m sure that should the need arise I will remember why I needed it. I’m such a ditz.
Had a bit of difficulty with my parents’ mailbox last week when I was up for the termite inspection. I pulled up to the bottom of the driveway and the post is laying over on the ground and the box is several feet away from the post. I didn’t see any damage, so I think it was just the wind since the box was too big for that post anyway. The thing that really ticks me off is the post was not set in concrete (but after ten years of dirt-to-wood contact there’s still no rot) and the box, while fastened to it’s mounting plate with four very hefty bolts, was attached to the post with only one screw. And it was only a three-inch wood screw, so only the last three-fourths of an inch or so was actually in the post. Also, the bolts and screw were in crooked because there were no pilot wholes drilled. WTF? My dad knows better than that. To top it all off, when I went to fix it not one of my dad’s drills had a charged battery. Again, WFT? So I put a battery for the Ryobi drill on the charger and I’ll probably go back up tomorrow and fix it now that I’m calmer and not nearly as pissed off at the whole thing. Oh, the post hole is too big now, but I put the post back in and filled in around it with marble chips, so it should be ok until my parents get back up here next month.
That’s all for now.
The outlet is there so you can plug in your laptop (if you have one) or cut the shrubbery.
Warning Comment
the outlet would be necessary for the searchlight to ensure there are no raging and mad zombies around the general periphery of your home and if there are to be able to see clearly enough to bash their head to smithereens! umm.. yeah… or that laptop thing like rainbow said. either’s good.

Now I want a new place!
