Still bumming rides
So, here I sit, idly playing games on Facebook while waiting for Critter to arrive. She’s not due for another forty-five minutes, somehow I just managed to get ready really early. I’ve probably forgotten something, but everything’s clean and relatively wrinkle-free so I can live with whatever it is.
TreeSap is supposed to be bringing me home tonight. It’ll be a tight turn-around for her, so I hope I don’t make her late for work.
I wanted to write, but now I can’t think of anything to say.
I’m a little cranky with SyFy right now. I was under the impression that Battlestar Galactica: The Plan was going to be a made for TV movie event premiering on SyFy with the DVD hitting shelves the day after the premier. Now I find out it’s a direct-to-DVD movie, which I guess allows them more freedom, and it’s not like I wasn’t going to buy it anyway, but what if I don’t have the money in October? I guess I’m just stuck then. Oh well.
And now it seem Bryan Singer and Glen Larson are making a BSG movie which is yet another complete re-imagining of the original ’70s series. There has been speculation that it’ll be following the lives of the Colonials on a new planet after they’ve decided to abandon the search for Earth (which is where we left Moore’s group at the end of season 2) or a prequel dealing with the origins of the Cylons and their relation to the Colonials (which is where Caprica picks up). Of course in the ’70s version of BSG, the robotic Cylons were not the creations of the Colonials that rebelled and ran amok, but they were the creations of a reptilian species of the same name, built after first contact with the Colonials since they (the biological Cylons) found the humanoid form more efficient for certain types of activities. The robotic Cylons were built to perform as "worker bees" for their organic masters. After that the stories are grossly similar, with the rebellion and proliferation of the robots, the complete destruction of their reptilian creators, and then the surprise attack on the Colonials, which leads to the Galactica leading it’s "rag-tag fugitive fleet" in search of the Alpha Quadrant. Oops! Sorry, I mean Earth.
I actually saw a short blooper/spoof clip somewhere that showed Voyager heading off in a typical "end of show" shot with either Kate Mulgrew or someone doing a very good impression of her starting Adama’s closing voice-over from the original BSG and stopping half-way through complaining they’d been given the wrong script to read. It was really funny. To me anyway. I don’t know why I can’t find it anywhere on the web though…
OK, moving on…
Well. Maybe not. Haven’t heard from Critter yet and it’s 0840. We’re supposed to leave at 0900. Yesterday we were supposed to leave at 0800 and didn’t get started until 0810 or so, but we made it ok. She didn’t go in to work yesterday. She got home after dropping me off and was going to do her hair, put on some make-up (she doesn’t normally wear make-up to work, she’s usually running late), stop by Starbuck’s and still be on time for work. Then she saw something wrong with the caulking around her tub, figured she’d do a little work on that, straighten some hair, do some more caulk, and so forth. Then she really got into the whole caulking thing and decided she really didn’t feel like going to work anyway and called in. And in all fairness she did need some time to herself, she really hasn’t had any lately, poor thing.
K’s father was being an ass again, more so than usual. He’s been on her about leaving OtherGuy. He says he "knows things". Whatever. He even told her that he didn’t mind her dating someone (like she needs his approval) he just didn’t want her dating OtherGuy. He even said he’d rather she was with me, and he made a point to mention how much he hated me. Go figure.
