Screw ups and good news

I screwed up today. I gave instructions that were accurate but imprecise and left my team alone to go get a cart we needed. I came back and my instructions had been followed, after a fashion. At any rate, what should have been a two- or three-hour project turned into nine. I’ve learned my lesson, though: next time someone else goes for the cart. Also, I pre-walk the area and write down piece-by-piece what needs to move and where it needs to go.

On a slightly happier note, I’ve already told Ember, but I’ll let everyone else know too: I get to come home every weekend! Also, the company pays mileage both ways, so gas is more than taken care of. The only bad part is that Mondays are going to be a bitch: I have to be on-site at 07:00, and to do that I have to wake up at 04:30 to leave at 05:00. Since I don’t get off until 17:00 at the earliest it’s going to be a fraking long day. And I have to go to bed around eight or so on Sunday so I lose potential buddy time on Sunday night. I guess I can deal, though. I’m making money on the overtime alone and the mileage and meals are just a plus.

I’m sure there was something else I wanted to say, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was.
