Rant

This was originally part of the "Caffeine Free Again!" entry but it ran really long so here it is:

Ok, the whole thing with the marijuana-flavored candy has got to stop. The Georgia legislature is trying to pass a law banning the sale of the candies in this state. Why? There is NO repeat NO THC in the candy, so it is impossible to get high by licking one. It Can’t. Be. Done. And what’s the whole deal with marijuana anyway? It’s less addictive than tobacco and the only, yes the only, reason it is a banned/controlled substance today is that the government couldn’t find a way to tax it. For God’s sake, it used to grow in ditches on the side of the road: there’s a reason it’s called weed, you know. And before anyone invokes “the children” it’s illegal for kids to buy cigarettes and alcohol. And spray paint and super glue and air guns and almost everything else, so I’m not proposing we hand out joints in the lunch line at school, ‘K? so don’t go there.

And don’t start about drivers getting high, impaired driving is ALREADY ILLEGAL and punishable by jail time, fines, and loss of driving privileges. And if someone wants to fry his or her brain at home or in the designated brain frying section of a public building I really don’t have a problem with that, and I won’t be offended if someone offers me one, I’ll just say no thanks, like I do with cigarettes and alcohol.

And no, I don’t smoke pot or anything else. I’ve never used a drug that wasn’t prescribed for me or available at the pharmacy as an OTC medicine so I have no personal stake in this. I think it’s just the government being stupid again, as it (at all levels) has shown itself more than capable of doing.

Sorry, I just get worked up sometimes.
