Promised Update

For some reason I can’t get onto OD. I tried last night but thought my wireless network was timing it out (it does that sometimes when the site is slow) so I didn’t think anything of it. Now I wonder (since I’m on the desktop and wired) if there’s been yet another problem. I’m getting a little aggravated about it. This didn’t happen with the current frequency three (or is it four) years ago when I first started, so either the traffic has increased dramatically or the new software is being cranky. Or the servers need to be upgraded but haven’t been due to fiscal limitations. Or someone has started a massive DoS campaign against the site. Any (or all) of it could be the case, but dang it I need to VENT! and this is the only site that I’m still private on since my family insists on hunting me down wherever I go on the ‘Net. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family, but I’m not the one that stopped visiting them once a month, they are the ones that stopped calling and visiting when I was no longer able to secure free admission to the Disney theme parks. Go figure. Can ya feel the love?

So, on with the entry:

My poor sunburned belly is starting to, well I guess the best word for it is “molt” since skin is coming off in big two by three inch (or bigger) sections. No gross liquid build up behind it so I’m not worried, just slightly grossed out and a little amused. No flaking on the rest of me, my legs might actually tan, but I’m not holding my breath, and my face didn’t get it as bad.

I haven’t talked to Critter since the night she brought me the Solarcaine, but not on purpose: I’ve just been busy and she’s probably not wanting to push. She said she doesn’t blame me for the letter, I was not the only one that thought she was an idiot (or crazy) for taking OtherGuy back, I just took it the hardest. She also told me, since she’s “allowed” (her emphasis, but she winked at me when she did it) to talk to me again that K has been “calling” me on her play cell phone every day and talking to me. She is so cute. It’s a really nice play cell phone too – it’s actually an old demo from work Critter was allowed to bring home so it’s a real phone with no guts and a sticker where the screen should be. K should be pretty well able to use a real one when she’s old enough to have her own, which I guess is when she hits six? Kids today…

Critter finally got a phone for the kids to use to text her when they get home before she does and for emergencies. She did tell them, however, that if the “emergency” resulted from them doing something they weren’t supposed to be doing then once it was over there would be consequences in form of a spanking and possible loss of electronic entertainment privileges. So far there have been no emergencies. 😉 I’m not sure if she added a third line to her plan (K’s daddy is on her plan for reasons that even she can no longer articulate) or if she got them a pre-paid. I think she was evaluating both and since that’s what she does at work she had a lot of info to plow through.

Neighbor E came down a few nights ago, I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this or not, and was talking about her A/C situation. I was nude, of course, but when I waved her in as I hobbled over to the door she came on in and started talking with no hesitation. We sat at my dining room table for almost ten minutes talking and then I walked her out when she left and there was no apparent discomfort on her part with my lack of clothing. I’m really glad. I’ve become a lot more relaxed about quick trips to the car or being on the deck nude since she told me she didn’t care. I’ve been trying to be careful, not because I didn’t want to be seen, but because I didn’t want to force myself on anyone. I really don’t think that’s an issue any more, at lease not here at home, and that’s a good thing.

Ember and I have been trying to chat for the past few days but we keep hitting each other at bad times. Yesterday I thought we’d have a bit to text back and forth but it was a lot later than I thought it was and I had to head back to work. Time has been passing a lot faster on my lunches since I got the data plan for my phone. Imagine that.

I’ve been trying to set up lunch with an old friend that I recently discovered lives up this way, and I’ve also been wanting to set up lunch with my fave and Nala, and I kind of want to have lunch with Critter and see what’s been going on the past three weeks. It’s been hard to coordinate to say the least. The old friend and Nala have preference over Critter for scheduling so I’m waiting on replies from them before I call her. Today is probably a wash, I haven’t heard from the friend (I didn’t expect to hear back from Nala and my fave yet) so I’ll probably just grab something here at home. I’ve got some cheese, salsa, and hamburger meat that needs to be cooked off, I can probably find something to do with that.

I wonder if there is a way for me to synchronize my Facebook calendar (which I don’t really use) with the calendar I do use for my phone and computers. That would make it easier to plan things with other Facebook users and would be much easier than buying and setting up a Microsoft Outlook server to coordinate my social life. If you’ve never used it for work it’s great – you just set up an event (usually a meeting or class) with a list of attendees and it sends out invites. If they accept the invitation it adds the event to their calendar and RSVP’s to the organizer. It’s really cool. At the last place I worked where it was used extensively the IS department had all the conference rooms and A/V equipment set up as users as well, so you could “invite” a conference room and the necessary A/V equipment and unless the area admin in charge or the conference rooms over rode it the conference room would automatically reserve itself on the calendar and the area admin for the A/V equipment was notified what you needed, where you needed it, and when you needed it. It was SOOOO cool.

Oh well. I’ve rambled on long enough for now. As you can tell I’m feeling much better, so the updates will be flowing more frequently, assuming the site is up. In case anyone was wondering I did this on my desktop in Word, something I used to do all the time but stopped doing for some reason (as you may have noticed from the much more frequent typos and spelling errors).

Later everyone!
