Oops! I did it again!
Waited a whole week to do an update, that is.
Not a lot happening right now. For some reason my bank has cut off all electronic access to my money, which sucks. I had to borrow some cash from my dad so I could make it through to Tuesday since I didn’t find out about it until I was buying groceries Friday night. Fortunately I had enough cash to pay for those since I was at my own store and all.
There was some excitement at Critter’s place a few nights ago. K’s daddy got liquored up (and possibly toked up as well) and came over to Critter’s house and was trying to beat the door in, yelling and screaming like a lunatic. Critter told him to leave before they called the cops, and he replied "go ahead, they’ll just agree with me and take you off!" or something along those lines. His arrogance is kind of funny though, because, since no one knows the actual address of the place she lives (it’s been lost to antiquity, someone should probably have the post office come out and tell her for sure) the police were driving around the area, looking, but they couldn’t find them. So K’s daddy, in his drunken-toked-up-overconfident way tells Critter he’ll be right back, he’s gonna flag the cops down himself. Idiot.
So he waves them down and goes back to beating on the door and yelling at her when the cops throw their spotlights up on him and say "Sir, are you [K’s daddy]?" Of course he says, "yes I am!" To which they reply, "Sir, we need you to step down of the porch please. Now."
I wish I could have seen his face! Critter didn’t trespass him, but the cops said that if they *ever* had to come back out here because of him then Critter wouldn’t have any say in the matter, he *would* be going to jail. They let him drive home. They could smell the beer on him but he blew a .05 so they couldn’t grab him for that either. Fortunately the kids were at their grandmother’s house and missed the excitement.
Critter and I ate lunch together on Saturday, and then we went to a local state park that she’s been to before but I haven’t. It was fun. We walked a couple of trails, saw some awesome views (mountains, remember?), and generally had a good time. I took a little over 200 pictures, she didn’t take quite that many because she didn’t have a clean memory card when we started. She’s got a problem deleting pictures from her camera. She’s got every one of them on her laptop, and a good portion of those on CD’s or DVD’s but she just can’t bring herself to delete them from the camera. It makes her feel bad when she does, and she only does it when she has to have more room for pictures she’s currently taking.
There’s probably a behavior disorder behind that, I have the same problem, but mine is even weirder: I don’t delete text messages from my phone, at least not en masse, I go through and selectively delete the less important ones like "I’m on my way" or "I’m running late", things like that. But the conversations I keep until the phone purges them. I just don’t want to lose them. And don’t even get me started on my call log…seriously. I used to have it set to purge after thirty days, but even then I had to tell it to, and I hated doing it every time. I almost went to pieces when I accidentally purged everything older than seven days the first time. I’m not joking! I’m serious! It was really bad (I mean, for me, I didn’t get locked up or anything). Seven days is the default setting now, I never changed it back to thirty, but that first time…
So anyway, I understand where she’s coming from with the memory card thing.
I had pizza over with Critter and the kids on Wednesday night. I think it was Wednesday, it might have been Thursday. Anyway, OtherGuy was in town getting her some cigarettes and picking up something else when she invited me over. She says she sent him a text as soon as she did it but from the look on is face when he got home and saw me either it didn’t get read or it got lost in transit and not delivered. The kids were glad to see me though. Come to think of it, that was the same night Ember’s grandfather died. I had posted an update on Facebook that I was sad because my best friend’s grandfather had died and I couldn’t be there for her. I didn’t know him, but it bothered me that I couldn’t be there physically for Ember in case she needed a hug or someone to lean against while she sat there crying. So Critter had me over to try to cheer me up.
It seems I will *not* be getting an interview for Senior Manager. I don’t know if my performance has dropped off that much or if I was being lied to by the two Senior Managers that told me if they were Facility Managers they’d take me on as a Senior Manager in a heartbeat. I just wish someone had said something before it got to this point. And to top it all off, I found out that two of my classmates that are in the store with me got rated as high as you can possibly get rated on their annual evals last year. One of them deserved it, the other one did not, and it pisses me off that those two are the only two from my store that got interviewed for Senior Manager spots, especially since the one that *deserved* the rating doesn’t even *want* to be a Senior Manager and is considering stepping down from his current position. WTF?
Oh well. I guess things will work out the way the are meant to. I was seriously considering leaving the company until we started this new management schedule, which is sweet. There’s no other retailer in the country with a management schedule this generous, not even close.
So that’s all I’ve got for today. I was hoping I’d hear something from Critter before I finished this. She’s been totally silent (electronically speaking) all day, which is very unusual for her. She normally updates either MySpace or Facebook, usually both, or sends me a text at some point bemoaning how boring her job is and how lazy her co-workers are. Or something similar, just a friendly excuse to say hello without seeming like a stalker. But since I haven’t seen any activity at all today I sent her a quick hey how ya doing text about two hours ago and haven’t heard back. Totally weird. Unless her phone got turned off, which is possible since D & B’s dad is usually late with the child support. Oh well, if I don’t hear anything by tomorrow afternoon I’ll assume that’s it. I’ve got to grab some groceries tomorrow anyway, I may swing by her store while I’m in town.
Later!
!!! I do the same thing with text messages. Except I actually type them out in an e-mail that I send to myself so they’re not lost forever. Then I delete them from the phone. Because my phone doesn’t purge things automatically. It just tells me that I don’t have enough space to send messages. It’ll keep receiving them, but not sending them. We’re sick. lol
