Much better day today

Today was much smoother. I’ve learned that when I have a team as large as the one working for me my job isn’t as much to help with the “doing” as it is to see that they are doing the “doing” correctly, and moving people around bottlenecks into more productive tasks. I did still dive in occasionally, helping with some cleaning here, some labels there, but only to get the person to whom that task had been assigned back on schedule, never taking the task on for myself and losing track of the overall project.

This is going to be hard. I’ve never much liked doing that, but I can’t afford to tie myself down to a task when I’m trying to make sure the whole day’s work gets done on time.
