[M] There are twelve stores in my district…

Why can’t the district HR manager visit one of the other eleven every now and then? I got called into the office and asked to justify my termination of an employee with very restricted availability. I told her we had work for him as a cashier but he refused to do it, he only wanted to work in one particular area of the store where there were no shifts that matched his availability. After six weeks without a schedule I checked with personnel and terminated him. Apparently someone not being able to work when we need them to work is not a valid reason to sever their relationship with our Great and Glorious Company. And as a further bonus, now instead of being available Monday-Friday from 0800-1200, he’s only available Tuesday & Thursday from 0800-1200. And she still thinks I’m the bad guy.

As far as I know I still have my job and a clean record, but I’ll let you know if that changes. This new HR manager is seriously pissing me (and almost everyone else) off.

Poopy!

Sucks when someone who doesn’t have to deal with day-to-day things gets to make decisions like that. Now the employee will be even worse to deal with. Guess someone complained.

However, this gives me hope. I was thinking about getting a part time job, but my house would be so limited that I didn’t think it was possible. Who knew I’d only have to be available 8 hours a week to get one?

What a wack job this person must be. That’s like a total of 8 hours a week. Why bother?
