Longer Entry
OK, K fell asleep on the way to lunch, par for the course I guess. We stopped by where Critter works to say hi and did a little bit of shopping.
K started getting into everything and it got to the point where she was doing something that could get her hurt so I swatted her on the bottom once. I barely even felt it so I know I didn’t hurt her, but she just got this shocked look on her face and then started crying. It was her "tired and cranky" cry, so I picked her up and put her in my bed and cuddled her until she cried herself to sleep. She was down for almost two and a half hours, so I guess she really needed the nap.
I think it startled her so much because I have never had to so much as raise my voice to her, much less spank her. Normally just telling her "no" is enough from me to get her to stop whatever she’s doing.
Other than that it’s been a pretty good day. It turns out Critter’s schedule got changed once she got in so instead of working 0900-1800 she’s working 1200-2100, so I’ll have K a lot later than I’ve ever had her since Critter and I split. It’s no big to me, I just don’t know how we’re going to get her coat and shoes back on her if she’s asleep when Critter gets here.
I’ve got some evals to write tomorrow since I can’t take the time at work to do it without everyone screwing off and not getting done. I’ve also got to call the local store and see if they’ll leave this training video I need to watch out so I don’t have to drive all the frakking way back to my store to watch it. They’ve had it for ten days and only just Tuesday morning as I was trying to walk out the door did my HR person decide to tell me it had to be watched by Friday morning at 0800. I was off Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday this week, and by the time I come to work on Friday it’ll be past the deadline. She wanted to know why I was making such a big deal about it and why I couldn’t just stay and watch it. Idiot. I’d really like to see one of the HR weenies (0800-1700 Mon-Fri, the lot of them) work an eighteen hour day just once, since they don’t seem to think making us do it on a regular basis is so hard. I’d bet they’d be a lot more considerate of our schedules from then on.
BuckBuck #8 royally screwed us Monday night. In order to get the Valentine’s stuff out he pulled back twelve pallets of special buy/display merchandise and just left it on the floor in the back. That’s in addition to the five pallets of merchandise that no longer fits on the counters of the two departments we’re in the middle of setting for spring. Of course the senior manager in charge pitched a fit and left instructions for overnights to clean it up Tuesday night. I think he should have made the moron that jacked up the back room come in on his day off and fix it. Idiot.
you should know by know that work is a bunch of idiots!!
