Late Posting

I think we’re going to get our expense checks tomorrow. They were showing someone else how to process them today. I’ve got money, and I’m not spending as much now that I’m back on my diet, but I still need the help with the gas.

We did really well today as a whole. We got everything that was built set. One section took way longer than it should have, but we got it done. I put someone who is supposed to be one of my strongest workers on that counter, the longest one, and told her which sections had to be done before lunch, and which sections we’d help her with after. Somehow she got it in her head that the sections I wanted done by lunch were all she had to do today and they didn’t get done. I think she was stretching the work out to fill the day so she wouldn’t have to help in another department. I corrected her as we were leaving for lunch, and sent an additional person over, making it a total of four people working on that one forty foot counter. After the last break very little progress had been made so I sent two more people over and the other manager and I finished the other part of the department. At one hour to stopping time for the day (minions aren’t allowed overtime, it’s a project thing) there was still one section that had not been touched, so I started on it and it took about thirty minutes to do. It was all pegs, in case anyone was wondering, just like the rest of the counter. My question to my team was why was I able to set this section alone in thirty minutes when it took five people over the course of eight hours to set the other nine? They weren’t able to give me a good answer.

And before anyone goes on about me being more experienced because I’m a manager, two of these people have been with the company for more than ten years, and I’m just starting my third.

Anyway, that’s pretty much it for the day. I don’t know when this will get posted, the Internet connection at my hotel is down and of course the one guy who knows how to fix it is out of town. I so want to go in their server room and power everything down and bring it back up one component at a time. That’ll fix things eight times out of ten but the nitwits here won’t do it, they’re afraid they might break something. I’ve never understood why people think turning something off that isn’t working anyway will break it. Whatever.
