I’m such a twit sometimes…
OK, I was so tired from work and aggravated from the pharmacy drama (I’ll explain later) when I got home that the very first thing I did was to take my meds. All my meds. Even the ADHD meds. Ooops.
For those of you who don’t know, most ADHD meds are amphetamines. I’m not sure how it works or who the first genius was that thought it would be a good idea to give someone who was already bouncing off the walls speed, but it slows our brains down. However, while it slows our brains down it still acts the same on our bodies as it does everyone else, which means that I can’t get to sleep now. Dammit. I even took my normal two sleeping pills (before I realized I’d taken the ADHD drug) and that’s not doing a whole lot for me.
To top it off, the particular drug I take is a pro-drug (it gets paid and can’t compete in the Olympics). OK, no that’s not what it means, it means it’s been formulated with something else attached to it, in this case lysine, to make it harder for the liver and kidneys to filter it out so it stays in my system, and is therefore active and useful, longer. Bugger.
Tonight is going to be freaking miserable. I’ve got more freight and I probably won’t get more than an hour of sleep, if I even get that much.
I’m a new reader and just wanted to say hi.

RYN, thanks! I did, although I broke a strap on it. I’m sorry your meds kept you up! I have also thought it ironic to give ADHD people speed.
