I’m soooo silly

And it isn’t even about my last entry, seriously!

Had to go to a funeral today. One of our employees died and since she worked for me I went to represent the store. Well the funeral was over in the town I work in, and due to various and sundry other little things that went on this morning I was running late when I stopped at the house to change. I dash out the door, hastily input where I’m supposed to be going into the GPS and before it’s even finished saying "Calculating Route" I’m moving. I walk in the chapel two minutes late, which is really no big since the service hadn’t started yet, and as I sat down I did my normal "wallet check" move and realized it was in my other pants. I completely forgot to grab it before I left. Not normally a problem, just drive the speed limit on the way home and everything is good right? Nope. My car’s "Miles to Zero" readout was already flashing "0" at me well before I even got to the funeral home, and while I know for a fact I can get ten more miles out of it (on level ground) when it’s like that I have no idea *when* it started flashing. Besides, my wallet is twenty-six miles away (uphill) at this point. I had to call TreeSap to come bail me out since she’s the only person I know that lives over there. She loaned me ten bucks and followed me to the nearest gas station. Saved my bacon, she did. She had her daughter with her. She’s so cute! She was asleep in her car seat, and it looked like she’d given TreeSap a run for her money at lunch because there was a good portion of it all over her shirt. So now I owe TreeSap ten bucks and a favor, and I had to endure the punishment of her barely suppressed giggles the entire time we were talking. I guess I’ll get over it.

Her divorce is getting kind of nasty, but it’s all been started by her soon-to-be-ex who is just an idiot. Seriously. I don’t understand how she ended up with him in the first place. Ok, well, I understand *that* (he was twenty-something and she was sixteen so there you have it, forbidden lust, er, love) but not how they stayed together all this time.

Anyway, I have not had a chance to send off my TiVo box yet so I’ll have to wait until Monday, which sucks, because even though I’m paying full price for the replacement *and* after they spend the ten or so minutes swapping out the hard drive in my old one they are going to sell it online as "pre-loved" for $100, they will not ship my replacement until they get my broken one. What the hell?

Had a doctor’s appointment this morning. That was OK. Blood pressure was a little high for me (128/80) but everything else was normal. I expressed a little concern over my becoming scatterbrained again, but she said (and I had thought this might be it) it was probably due to my routine changing. She did say to mention it next visit (in June) if it was still happening and we’d look at fiddling my meds then.

Talked to Critter today. It seems there’s still some kind of drama with OtherGuy and the bills. A mutual friend of ours suggested that since she was paying the bills before OtherGuy moved in she should still be able to pay the bills and she just wanted "an extra paycheck". No, she wants him to help pay the difference between what she was paying before and what she is paying now. Seems reasonable to me. If she hadn’t had an outrageous car payment when we were together I’d have expected her to help out, but she didn’t have the money and since I was on budget billing with the power company I didn’t get hit as hard as she did. And before anyone asks, she’s on a different power company than I was and they don’t offer the budget billing feature.

Pretty much all of the north Georgia mountains is a mish-mash of overlapping power grids owned by Georgia Power, the TVA, and who knows how many co-ops, so you could actually have a different power company than the folks across the street in some cases. That’s one thing I miss about living in Alabama and northwest Florida – the Southern Company was the end all be all of power and everyone worshiped at their altar. Outages were really few and far between too so it was pretty well worth it.

That’s all I got for now. I have to run into town for a few things now that I’m reunited with my wallet.
