I need more shelves

But I don’t have the eight or so hundred dollars it will take to buy all of them at the same time. I could buy them one or two at a time, but the way I’m going to set some of them you need at least two units to be stable, three is better. All in all to do what I want/need to do for all my books, DVDs, BDs, and VHS tapes I’ll need four wide units and four narrow units. I have a lot of books.

I’m using the Billy series from Ikea. I’ve already got two wide ones and I want everything to match. My parents had a nice matching living room set when I was younger and it made the whole living room flow very nicely. At any rate, since Ikea’s shipping rates start at $99 and I’m only eighty or so miles away from a store, I’ll probably be going to pick them up myself, hence the need to make as few trips as possible.

Critter and I talked last night, played Super Mario Galaxy 2, got married. Nothing huge.

I’m kidding people, just trying to see who’s paying attention. She hasn’t bought Super Mario Galaxy 2 yet. And yes, I’m yanking the chains again, we aren’t married, we did play Super Mario Galaxy 2.

D has been grounded from electronic entertainment until further notice. Again. It was for hitting B, but he seems to think it’s because he was ahead of Critter in SMG2 and she was jealous. That kid is seriously weird.

She gave me some of the back story behind this breakup, and it’s old issues that he keeps bringing up. Mostly she spends time with her friends and he doesn’t spend time with his. He thinks they should be connected at the hip all the time, and if she’s out with her friends he sits at home and mopes. He has never once been told he cannot hang out with his friends, and in fact she encourages it. My only problem with her spending time out was not knowing if/when she was coming home that night, something she’s gotten better at communicating. She normally tells him if she’s going to be out late enough he shouldn’t bother waiting up. At least that what she told me, and I tend to believe her since I’ve told her before when OtherGuy complained about it that guys get worried if you don’t tell us you’re going to be out late.

Other than measuring and pricing my shelving needs I have completely wasted the day. I’ve got to stop doing that, I’ve got to start making trips to the gym or walking, maybe both. I have managed to eat less this off cycle. At least I think I have. I’m really craving pizza right now though…

I thought about getting some Captain D’s to go earlier, but I figured it’s been so long since I’ve had that much fried food at once it’d probably make me sick.

I need to bring back a ladder next time I go up to the cabin so I can finish rewiring the cable and satellite connections, fill the old voids with spray foam, and fill the holes in the siding with wood filler. The hole the cables go through will get silicone caulk, but the other holes need to be sandable and paintable, hence the wood filler. Walmart has a smallish can of indoor/outdoor filler for about five bucks, that should do me. I’ve got to put the last layer of plaster on the inside and get some paint mixed up for it.

I’m watching House Hunters International right now for the simple reason I can’t reach the remote from where I am. This show usually annoys me, and it’s doing so now.

I need two more smallish televisions for the bedrooms. I’ll probably get one with a DVD player built-in for the guest room, but I need something bigger for my room. I might just buy a bigger TV for the living room and put that one in my room.

Got another BuckBuck starting tomorrow. I think we’re up to number ten but I’ll have to check. She’s experienced as a manager, so at least we aren’t getting some newbie fresh out of what little training they get now. When I went through the program it was twelve weeks long, whittled down from sixteen weeks a few years ago. The last few BuckBucks that we’ve gotten went through an eight week program that was all classroom and no experience. I’ve heard rumors the new program is only going to be six weeks long, possibly four, with the primary responsibility for training being on the facility they go to. That is so not right. If they’d tried that when my group got sent to the field we’d still be trying to get trained. We accounted for Six of the eleven managers in the store, and three of them were on overnights.

The closest Ikea to where I live is a four hour drive. I like their stuff and prices too. Oh well. I liked the got married bit. I thought it had something to do with the game you were playing, like you got married on the game like the Sims or something. I don'[t know too much about all the video games out there.

Hmm Ikea is cool, bought a computer desk and a bookshelf from them about a year ago.

RYN: Your last line said it all. It’s the difference between “what” and “how”.
