I didn’t know it was *that* cold

D & B’s dad picked them up from school.

Let me repeat: D & B’s dad picked them up from school. Wow. I had food and a movie set up for them and everything. I’m not complaining, mind you. They do need to spend time with their dad, it’s just he seems to make a point of not doing that.

K is asleep on my bed right now. Poor thing, she’s just worn out and I’m not sure why. Maybe three year olds are only good for four or five hours at a stretch before they have to recharge. She’s been down about ninety minutes now, I’ll check on her at the two hour mark and see if she wants to get up.

I’ve got a date for my date, so that’s good. I’m really excited. This will be the first time I’ve met someone completely out of my social circle for a date. The last few blind dates I’ve been on were friend’s room mates and the like, so they weren’t entirely outside my normal existense, but they were background characters, not leads.

I should be able to stop by and see Ember on my trip back up from the date. She’ll be excited about that.

Critter’s battery was dead this morning. I had to run over there to pick up K and jump start her car since K’s dad had Criter’s cables and OtherGuy didn’t have his with him for some reason. I told Critter it was probably time for a new battery, and she said she may be stuck with having people jump her off until January. That would suck. And technically, the battery wasn’t dead, it just wouldn’t turn over her starter. Since it was twenty-seven degrees outside this morning and this is the first time she’s had a problem I’m thinking it’s about to die a painful death on her.

As I was coming back from lunch and getting my hair cut I came up on a chicken truck laid over on its side and chickens and cages strewn all over the highway. Yay. I had to call Critter and have her talk me through a back way since I’m really only familiar with the main road through there and a lot of the side streets are either unpaved or one-lane so I don’t like to go exploring.

That’s all I’ve got for now. I’m really excited at the prospect of the date. Now I just have to hope that neither of us accidentally gets married or some other silly thing in the next three weeks.

You never know what might happen. That must have been a sight, the overturned chicken truck and all those eggs…
