Hell *must* have frozen over…
Will wonders never cease? I actually got my expense check today. Of course I didn’t get it until almost seven o’clock, and if we hadn’t been working late it probably would have been tomorrow morning. At least I got it.
Now on to the working late part: Yeah, we had to work an extra two hours today to set up counters that the overnighters were supposed to have put up last night but didn’t. Apparently the wrong parts got sent over from the local warehouse and they couldn’t change them out because no one is allowed to be at the warehouse after dark for safety reasons What really ticks me off is it is SO EASY to tell the difference in the parts, they just weren’t paying attention when they loaded the truck. I mean it’s not like the “right” parts are just an eighth of an inch longer than the “wrong” parts or something stupid like that: they’re shaped differently. Add to that the “right” parts are almost twice as heavy as the “wrong” parts are and you can understand my frustration. We did get the counter down, moved, and reassembled in near record time, though. Hooray us! Then the project manager wanted us to fill the bloody thing up with merchandise too. We were disinclined to acquiesce to her request .
So tomorrow morning we skip the morning briefing and move the merchandise to the new location and finish that department off then we move on to the one I was working in today. I didn’t get the counter from hell though, someone else did. I got a smaller storage rack, but it was missing pieces. Not a big deal, I was told not to worry about the missing shelves we could set them when the parts came in. Great right? Wrong. The merchandise was palletized and that’s right! All the merchandise that went on the missing shelves was on the top of every pallet so we had to handle it anyway. To add to the amusement of the fixture gods, the missing pieces were found and sitting ready to be installed after lunch. Naturally by this time I had re-stacked and palletized the merchandise in question so we had to move it yet again. Next time I’m just going to leave it on the floor. I mean the actual floor. Sitting on the linoleum for the entire world to trip on. It’ll save me time.
No I won’t. I don’t have it in me.
Holy Hannah! Frusrtation indeed!
