Happy Happy Truck

My truck is so happy right now. She’s got a full (mostly) tank of gas. One of the places I normally buy has had gas for almost forty-eight hours now so I didn’t feel guilty filling up, especially at $3.75 /gal. $83 later and my truck is all happy happy. I could have squeezed another five or six gallons in (I’ve done it on road trips, just in case) but I didn’t feel like taking the extra six or eight minutes it would have required. There’s something about the anatomy of my gas tank and the filler pipe that makes the pump cut off way before she’s actually full. Maybe it’s at a funny angle or something. With most of my other cars when the pump cut off you weren’t getting any more than a half-gallon or so more into it, that was it. Not with the truck though.

Had a pretty good night last night. We didn’t get done, but we didn’t get the freight on time either. It’s supposed to be sitting on the floor ready for my guys when we break from our meeting at 2215 (or at least 90% of it) and it wasn’t. We didn’t get the last of it pulled until right before lunch, and then we had the stuff that gets shipped out in eaches instead of cases to get pulled out becuase it wasn’t sorted until about the same time we got the rest of it pulled.

If I get to go to my modified shift that crap is going to stop. I mean, yes, there were two really big trucks on my side last night but the receiving guys should have been done with both before they went to lunch, and they had only barely finished the first one then.

My cable is disconnected right now. Not entirely certain how I got my cable turned off but not my phone or DSL since they are all by the same provider (ya gotta love small towns). At any rate, I missed the series premier of Sanctuary last night as well as the regular episode of Stargate Atlantis. SGA is getting pretty close to the winter finale, so I hope this gets fixed on Monday like they said it would. That way the TiVo will grab those two episodes (cause it knows it missed them) during one of the ten or so times Sci-Fi will re-run them this week.

Forgot to mention, Queeg say not to worry I may still get Alaska, these things sometimes take a while. She also said that she can’t release me any sooner than the second week of December since we are three managers down already, and I told her I figured as much, it wasn’t that big a deal to me. I’d really rather go through the day after Thanksgiving sale at a store I’m comfortable in anyway. Besides, by company policy, the sheer distance involved means I get a month to relocate (while still getting paid, thank-you) so that would put me out of the hurly-burly until January. Oh darn!

Alaska is still a possibility then, Wow! That would be exciting. I hear it is beautiful. James used to live there…I think with wife number 4 or 5, LOL. As long as you are happy is what counts. Maybe new scenery will do you good. Will you be going through Minnesota?? Hahahaha…suppose not 🙁
