Friday’s activities

Lots happened yesterday. Amanda S’s whatever (it’s the ex-boyfriend that’s not quite an ex anymore but not quite boyfriend again) has been sick the past few days, and went to the hospital last night throwing up blood. It being the same hospital I’ve been to three times now, they insisted he had damage to his esophagus from his acid reflux disease. That would be a lot more convincing if he had acid reflux disease. They didn’t seem to care that the symptoms started after he ate at a local restaurant, the same one Ember ate at and has been sick ever since, but not as bad.

Ember, Jimmy and I were going to go eat dinner with Rah-Rah and Shawn and then go see TMNT at the good theater south of here. We started out OK, if a bit later than we wanted, but everyone was good. On the way down Rah-Rah called and we found out the reason they were eating out was it was someone’s birthday. Since we didn’t know the person we decided not to intrude by joining them, but Ember did run inside to say hello to everyone since we were there. We went somewhere else to eat, and Ember started feeling sick. Jimmy was asleep in the back of the car, so she told me to go ahead, since I was hungry, and she’d be in in a minute. When she did come in she looked worse than she did before, so I suggested we cancel the movie and head home, which we did.

I hope she’s better this morning.

Yesterday at work pretty much nothing went as planned. I spent most of the day helping ToyLady because apparently she hasn’t had an overnight stocker for the past several nights and had eight pallets of freight sitting on the floor in the back. We tackled it and got it worked down to just one pallet of extra freight. Then I showed her the best way to get stuff out of her backroom, which apparently no one had ever shown her. She loves it. It takes a few extra minutes than the random memory thing she’s been doing, but it lets the computer decide what goes and what doesn’t, and it shows up on the reports that the managers look at so they know she’s doing her job. If nothing else it’ll make her look good in the end and save her some grief later on.

And to top it all off, I was talking to an old girlfriend last night and asked her how Jessica (the girl we thought might be my daughter) was doing and she told me she was pregnant again, but this time by someone else. She better be glad she isn’t my daughter because seventeen or not I’d put her over my knee and then lock her in her room until she was at least thirty. She says there was coercion, that she didn’t do it willingly, but it’s far and away too late to get the police involved. And to top it off as soon as she told him (she’s twenty-nine weeks along, so this was a while ago) he skipped town. Her mom is going to take this one as her own and raise it, Jess really doesn’t want anything to do with it. Her mom’s already been through this ten times, one more won’t change much. Jess does madly love her older baby, Chris, though. She’s not really a bad mom (considering she’s only 17), she just doesn’t want a constant reminder of the events surrounding #2’s conception.

That’s all I got. I have to go do laundry. I’d skip it but the nephews are in town so….
