Elephants and Kangaroosiesroosies!
It just seemed to follow…
Got a call from work Wednesday afternoon. It seems Mego was unable to contain the carnage with his shop vac and he had to have someone come out and replace all of the carpet in the master suite, the hallway, and the living room. Naturally he was unable to come in and they wanted to know if I could. The senior manager in charge apologized for even asking, and he told me he’d say no if it was him, but he’d rather try to get an experienced overnight manager there than have someone from dayshift cover it who’s never done it. Since I slept throught the first call (a miracle in itself) and barely caught the second call before it went to voice-mail I told him I was sorry, but I just couldn’t do it. He said he understood.
Not sure why Mego’s wife couldn’t have called in this time though. She’s a manager at the same level we are but at another store in the district. She also works days, so there’s probably three or four other managers, just at her level, there with her every day. That doesn’t even take into account the two senior managers and the facility manager, at least one (if not two) of which are there every day as well. This is in contrast to Mego being all alone on his scheduled night.
I had the kids Wednesday and Thursday afternoon after school. OK, Wednesday I was in the house with them but since I was asleep most of the time there was very little interaction. It’s all good though, Critter knew the score when she had them sent over on the bus. It’s still better than leaving them alone at their house for the two hours between the time they get home and Critter gets off. Besides, this way she had a chance to do the grocery shopping before she came to get them. Last time she went for groceries she had to take them with her and she said they’d all starve before she did that again.
Gave blood yesterday. I’ve got a very strange bruise on the inside of my arm though. It’s right in the crease of the inside of the elbow (where they took the blood) but it’s not along the vein, it’s almost exactly perpendicular to it, but the same width. That’s never happened to me before. Normally I only have a smallish bruise right around the puntcure, or if the vein rolls a couple of times while they’re rooting around in my arm I’ll have a largeish, roughly round bruise. This one is just weird.
This was the first time since I’ve started giving blood again that I’ve done it alone. Normally either Critter or Ember will be going too and we’ll make an event of it, but Critter was working and Ember has moved so no company for the ToyMan. It’s not like I need them to hold my hand or anything, but having company is fun.
I bought some weather stripping for the doors, but it seems you can’t install it when the temperature is below forty degrees. Since it’s tweenty-five degrees right now I guess that’s a no-go on the weather proofing. It would have been nice if that info had been on the outside of the package where I could have seen it.
K’s dad has been laid off. He figured it was coming but they got him a week before he thought they would. He’s going to sit on his hiney until unemployment runs out then abandon his lease and move back from whence he came. I’d say good ridance to bad rubish if he didn’t want to take K with him. He is *not* capable of raising that child alone. Frankly I don’t think he was capable of raising her when Critter lived with him, I really beleive it was all her and all he did was keep K from getting too badly hurt or dirty while Critter was at work. His trailer is filthy. Critter had to wipe her Christmas stuff off with Clorox wipes before she could bring it into her house. She had to through the old boxes away and buy plastic stoage containers from Wal-Mart to keep them in there was so much mold and other nastiness on them. She says his house smells terrible, but I don’t know first hand. She really hates to let K go over there, but he is her father, and she will not let him in her house. Frankly I don’t blame her. I’m fairly certain that if she wanted to deny him visitation there’s nothing he could do. All that would have to happen is DFACS to do a home inspection on him and they’d laugh in his face. To hear Critter tell it the guy that owns the trailer park may have to condem that trailer and get a new one to put on that lot. It’s pretty bad.
Saw TreeSap while I was shopping. We both live over here and work over there so that’s how that happened. Her daughter (18 mo.) is a little curly-haired cutie, even if she was being scared of strangers today. Wouldn’t let go of mama, had to be carried. She kind of reminded me of a little monkey the way she kept trying to climb higher up on TreeSap. It was funny. Well, to me it was, to TreeSap it was annoying since she had worked Wednesday night and hadn’t been to sleep yet.
