Back to work tomorrow

Or rather, in about nine hours, so I really should be asleep by now.

I really don’t want to go back. I’d love to call in sick, but I can’t, it would just lower their opinion of me even more and I’d feel guilty about it as well. I mean, not counting my leave, I think I’ve missed a total of five regular work days due to illness in the past three or so years. I don’t count weather because that’s well beyond anyone’s control, and I think there have only been two of those. Truthfully, one of those shouldn’t count because of the extra time I worked to cover Blondie’s shift during the snow. Whatever.

I’m in a bit of a funk. I noticed it earlier today. For some reason I’m really bummed that my TiVo is completely empty. Like I said, in a funk.

Critter updated her Facebook to say her nerves were shot. I left a comment offering hugs and sent a text directly to her letting her know she could call or come by if she wanted to talk, haven’t heard from her. No big, didn’t really expect to but I had to make the offer or I’d feel badly about not offering. I’m weird.

My neighbor got caught in the rain down by the river. It was a hard, fast rain too. Poor guy. In addition to his fishing gear he was wearing a side arm as well. I hope it’s at least a .40 or anything he shoots at is just gonna get pissed off. There has been some bear activity around here, though not since I’ve moved in, and there are some stray dogs in the area. Not sure if the dogs have gone wild yet but it’s probably better to be safe than sorry, at least until the local wildlife realizes people are using that section of the riverbank again. No telling how long it’s been since anyone’s been down there. I’m going to try to get down there on my next off cycle. I’ll have to find the strap for my shotgun though, if I didn’t trash it in the move. I’m gonna need both hands to get down there since the trail is so rough but if my neighbor feels the need to be armed down there I’m certainly going to follow his example.

I thought I had mentioned it but I guess I was hallucinating: I went down to my neighbor’s fortieth birthday party last night and stayed for a bit. Her husband invited me while I was hanging out the window trying to re-do the cable and satellite runs so they came in one hole in the siding and were both on the same wall plate in the living room. I figured it was just a courtesy invite, and I said I’d certainly try to get down there and thanked him. An hour or so later, as the party is supposed to be starting, he comes around to my front door (in the rain no less) to get me and say she was on her way home and would be here any minute. I was shocked, but I went. They’re nice people, but I’ve always been the quiet mind-my-own-business type. You know, like a serial killer, lol.

Gonna have some trouble shaving in the morning since I haven’t done it at all since Thursday morning. That’s gonna suck.

Oh well. I’m out, headed to bed. Night!
