Awake(ish)
I survived the class and the trip home yesterday. About two hours into it, shortly after a break, the facilitator told us it had come to his attention that some of the overnight managers present may have worked the night before, and if that was the case would we please raise our hands. all four of us did, and he pulled us out of class and into the hallway while someone else carried on.
He told us we were free to go, that he didn’t realize we had worked the night before, that *he* wouldn’t have come to a class like this if he had worked the night before, said he was surprised we actually showed up and aplogized for the inconvenience. He asked us why we were there after working our twelve hour shift, and after an awkward group silence I volunteered the information that the last time someone missed one of these things "steps to hold them accountable were taken" which is the accepted way of talking around someone else getting officially reprimanded since a) we aren’t supposed to know and b) if we do know we aren’t supposed to talk about it. He acted surprised at this.
I asked him if we wouldn’t have to do this class eventually, and he said yes, so I told him I’d go ahead and stay and try to finish if I could. So did everyone else. He told the class he had given us the choice of staying or going and we had decided to stay. I’m pretty sure they all knew why we stayed, but still.
Queeg made it to the top three for the store she interviewed for. She’s down there doing her final interview today. The senior manager who applied for the store in Alaska got it, so we’ll be losing him shortly. I have a feeling if Queeg gets her new job so soon after AlaskaMan goes and with the other senior manager applying like mad all over the country and the fact that we are down four managers at my level that our district manager may not allow anyone to move laterally until they are all seven replaced. Dammit.
Sleepy again now.
