At least I got out today
Not very far mind you, but I did leave the house. I went into town to buy some toiletries and new candles for my arrangement. $100 later…. yeah, I’ve got to stop doing that.
I’ve got two more DVDs on the way to replace VHS tapes. Indian Summer and Medicine Man, specifically. They’re both good movies, but it’s been forever since I’ve watched either of them. I’m not even sure why I’m replacing them except for the sake of completeness.
Saw Critter while I was there. She really wanted to be anywhere else but at work. She wasn’t upset or anything, she just didn’t want to be at work. Hopefully we can have lunch tomorrow.
I’ve got the doors propped open right now. There’s a thunderstorm brewing and the wind is blowing nicely through the house.
I let loose one of my .410 slug rounds last night, those things are loud.
The Cape and Friends With Benefits are both going to be shows to watch this fall. They look really good. I was kind of excited when I saw a show called The Cape, thinking it was a re-make of the ’90’s series, but this one is going to be good too, if for no other reason than Summer Glau is in it and I think the character she plays is actually sane. Friends With Benefits doesn’t have any IMDb information up yet, so no link for that. Sorry.
Got my Wii hooked up with component cables, so it looks pretty good now. I can go full screen 16×9 @ 480p so yay.
Want to make a Global Warming nut job go bonkers? Remind them that Greenland was actually green when the Vikings first got there. They hate it when facts get in the way of their political agenda. All of Europe was warmer during the Medieval Warm Period than it is today, but that’s inconvenient too. Sillies. OMG! I just popped over to Wikipedia, and apparently the Medieval Warm Period is being called the Medieval Climatic Anomaly now. Good grief. How much longer until we start using the terms "Good Fact" and "True Fact" seriously? Can’t be long now…
And in case anyone is wondering, yes, Facebook is Big Brother.
Seriously though, Facebook is becoming very interwoven into the very fabric of the Internet. I have not (and will not) use Facebook to log in to any of their "partner" sites like YouTube. There were some other sites I was looking at that I was surprised by a "Like" button and the caption, "xxxx people like this site. Be the first of your friends." I’m assuming it’s just guessing about that last part since I haven’t given Facebook permission to use my information for stuff like that. If I find out they’ve violated their own privacy policy I’m going to scream it from every networking site I’m on, then delete all my personal information from that account and only use it for FarmVille, and maybe not even that. I’m wondering now if Zynga is watching my every keystroke since I installed the FarmVille game bar in my browser…
Be very wary of what you share folks. Yes, I use Facebook and even foursquare, but I’m careful about what information I share. Even here, a site I keep walled away and isolated from my other sites, I don’t post any specifically identifying information. Having just moved I’m even more secure: no one has ever been here except Mana and Critter, and Ember has directions but she’s never actually made it up.
OK, I’m bored now. Gonna go watch some more television, maybe a BD or two. I might be back later for another entry but probably not.
Saw your entry on the Thirties circle. Medieine Man is a fantastic movie! I’ve not seen Indian Summer so I’ve no opinion on that one. I’m on facebook also and I have separate groups set up for people I know in real life and those I just add for games like FarmaVille and Zynga’s new game FrontierVille. I’m much anon on here since I talk about more private matters on OD as opposed to FB.
