For those of you following my adventures on Twitter, either on your mobile devices or the widget on my front page, you know I had a District visit earlier in the week. For those of you who don’t care what I’m doing when I’m not posting – I had a District visit earlier in the week. 🙂
First thing the District Manager wants to know is why I’m not wearing a tie. Um, ’cause no one told me I was supposed to? Seriously, I thought it was Senior Managers and higher, and no one in my store has said a word. Even Senior Manager Who Shouldn’t Be stood up for us on that one. I say us because another male manager walked into the office during the recap of the visit and he wasn’t wearing one either. We’re supposed to wear ties now. I’m going to be digging on the company intranet to find where exactly in the dress code for managers it says this, and if I can’t find it (i.e. it isn’t in there) then I might shoot a note off to corporate HR and ask if they could send me a link to the tie-wearing policy. Yes, I know, I’m evil. I do however know that, last time I looked, the salaried manager dress code is prefaced with the following statement: "…this dress code is to be followed as written and is not subject to the discretion of the Facility Manager, District Manager, or Regional VP." In other words, corporate is in control of the horizontal and the vertical, if you don’t like it open your own store and get your own customers.
I’m having lunch with AmandaC and Critter on Friday. Cool! I haven’t spent any significant time with either of them in quite a while. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I’ve seen AmandaC in person since Ember’s birthday party.
Got to grab my shirts out of the wash and get ’em hung up so I’ll have a mostly dry one to iron in the morning.
Carla might be buying a new car. She’s got a Kia Rio5 right now that she’s considering trading in on a Soul. She’s in kind of a weird place right now. I hope she was able to find some clarity while she was on vacation this week.
That’s all I’ve got right now. I’m kind of concerned about Ember, but beyond reminding her I’m here if she wants to talk or needs a hug that’s about all I can do right now. Life was so much easier when we only live a hundred feet away from each other…
You have so much to give your friends…support, good thoughts, love and all that. It’s nice to read about. I live in a very laid back tourist town and I almost NEVER see any ties on men here (or women LOL). What’s the big deal eh? Sounds like your job is sometimes pretty physical. Doesn’t seem like a tie would be practical.
