Update
Some time has gone by since my last entry, I see. Life continues to change and roll on and be interesting. I’m still seeing lots of A, and have moved to Windsor, but to my own apartment. We discussed the whole living together officially thing, and concluded that a safety net is not a bad thing, and I’m enjoying my new place. It’s smaller than my last apartment, and substantially less expensive AND within walking distance of the two places where I work. In fact, one of them is something like three or four doors down the street. I can leave home at five minutes to the hour and be at work with two or three minutes to spare. This is not a Bad Thing.
The new baby arrived a week late. My daughter’s babies have all arrived a week late. This one looks like his cousin, Auron, with the dark hair. So cute. A and I went down to visit for Easter weekend, when the little fella was about 10 days old, and we went down again for Mother’s Day weekend and #2 Daughter came along that time. I got some great pictures which are posted on my Facebook, and I’ll share a couple here.
From left to right: MacKenzie, Shannon, Ryker, Brennan, Logan, Auron, Bailey and Reese.
Shannon is #1 Daughter, and MacKenzie, Reese and Ryker are hers. Logan is Son; Brennan is his stepson and Auron is his. Bailey is #2 Daughter, who is still in high school. Logan and his fiancée are expecting again in late October.
Me and A.
A and I have been going out golfing. I am accumulating my own set of clubs that are short enough for my lack of height, and I’m getting better. Mind you, I’d’ve been hard pressed to get any worse. I went golfing three times 17 years ago and not at all since then, although I enjoy golf on the Wii. It was the Wii that got us talking about real golf. A enjoys real golf but hasn’t had much opportunity to go play, or someone to play with. I think it was the lack of a companion that was the real hold-up, because he’s been sneaking out on Wednesday afternoons to golf with me. Wednesdays are my day off, you see, and the perfect time to go out to a local little par 3 course, which is all we need at the moment, since neither of us is very good. It’s been fun. There’s a part of me that wants to sneak out and take some lessons from a pro and then kick ass. Mwahahahahaha.
#2 Daughter wants to move to the city when she’s done school and live life. She’s got a possible lead on a job there, and friends who rent a house not too far from my own old friend, KnittingWoman, and who may have a room coming open for her to rent. Kids grow up too fast. #1 Daughter is turning 29 this year!!! OMG. I don’t feel old enough to have a 29 year old daughter. My mind is boggled.
On the creative front, I’ve been feeling the urge to paint again, and I need to acquire a few more supplies. I’ve got a few story ideas, but nothing strong enough to put on paper just yet, although I have finally found my notebook with the early parts of a horror story which I intended to post at The Watcher’s diary, and I think I’ll have to start that this weekend. The creative urge is there; I just need to give into it.
It’s a grey and gloomy day out today, but my little apartment is bright even without sunshine pouring in. There’s something cheering about this odd little place. It’s in an old building with two stores downstairs and a total of five apartments above the stores and one out back on the ground floor. Mine takes up one side of the third floor and there are halls and stairways between my apartment and the two across the way. I think my living room shares part of its wall with the bathroom of my neighbour, but apart from that, there is no common wall. This means I can’t hear their TV or music or parties. The woman downstairs kicked her lame-ass boyfriend to the curb, so I no longer have to listen to him yelling at her, and her crying and sobbing. This is a plus. There’s another woman who lives in the ground floor apartment and has a crackhead boyfriend, who is very happy and pleasant (both of them are about my age, too…early 50’s). My apartment has been renovated and redone and is the nicest one in the building and I rather enjoy it. My living room windows (three really big windows) look out over the main street and it can be interesting to sit at my table and look out. It faces north by northeast, I think. I get a bit of morning sun very early, and then it’s just bright all the rest of the day. My bedroom and kitchen windows look westish, and the bathroom is southwestish, and if I open windows, I get a nice breeze through. It pleases me. I’m also amused by the window between the living room and my daughter’s bedroom. I think this may have been an office once, and her room might have been a reception area. I don’t really know. But it’s cool and unique. And convenient. I’ll take pictures one of these days.
And now I’m off to do something else. Be well, my dear friends.
you have a couch full of lovely people! good to hear from you and my ears perked up when you said horror-story(my favorite kind). heh gonna go to face book, look at more pictures.
