Happy Hallowe’en

Hard to believe that October is almost over. The whole year has flown past. My mind is boggled.

My sister came to visit. Haven’t seen her in 11 years, which she couldn’t believe because we speak regularly, just that she’s 1200 miles away and hasn’t stopped in on her trips down this way. Mind you, up until last year, we were another 2 hours away in terms of driving. Now we’re much closer to the airport and other places. She took #2 Daughter and me shopping and I have three new pairs of footwear, and a new winter coat. Nice. Then on the Sunday she was here, we drove up to Shediac to visit our brother who had a stroke about a year and a half ago. He’s learned to read again, so that’s cool, and he’s still his old self. No personality changes. This is also good.

We talked about my car, which is having serious engine issues, and I told her it would take about $2K to fix. She said she could help with that, and I said I didn’t think it was worth putting that kind of money into it. So, end result, I’m getting a newer used car (a 2006 Chevy Cobalt with 79K kilometres on it), using my car to trade in, her $2K and financing with my bank for less than $5K. This is all good. It means I can go see my sweetie when I want to, instead of having to get him come pick me up. And incidentally, now I have keys to his van, the apartment building and his apartment, so I can really go whenever I want, whether he’s home or not. I’m liking this.

#1 Daughter’s honey has been cleaning my house and getting it ready for them to move in. Son left a huge and horrible mess and dirt and such, and somehow didn’t use the money he was saving by having free rent to pay for the things that the free rent was supposed to cover, like repairs or getting connected to the sewer line instead of the septic and like that. So I’m seriously irritated with him right now, and Daughter isn’t helping when she reports more stuff to me. I need to let her issues be her issues and not take them on myself. I have my own irritation to deal with and that’s enough. It’ll all be good in the end.

#2 Daughter is working–the only one of my kids to go to school AND have a job. She got hired by Future Shop and is majorly stoked. We’re big technophiles here, so she could hardly have a better place to work. Decent pay, benefits for part-time employees who work more than 25 hours a week, bonuses, incentives and so on. She’s in training right now and making $12 an hour! It should drop to minimum, she  thinks, when she starts actual work, but holy moly! Not bad wages for a 17 year old girl.

And speaking of technocoolth–check out this. I want it!! No release date yet, but OMG! Tooooooo cool. And check out Milo as well. OMG!!! Makes the Wii look like crap, dunnit? WANNNNNTTTTT!!!

Ok, gotta to to work.

Having a good car is a near necessity. I’ll be in deep trouble if I don’t have my license to drive renewed. Willy

Slowly making my way around to catch up on the writing of people I visited many years ago. I fear your diary may take the longest. But it will be worth every second.
