Pretty Green Eye’s
I’m home sick today.
I have not taken a sick day in about 5 months, that was when I had one of my teeth pulled, even then I didn’t really need the day off, but my Dentist insisted. This time I really do need it. I was fine all yesterday, and then right up until bed time (10ish)… spent most of the night sweating and throwing up, not pretty. So I am at home, resting for the most part.
I got my two ratties on Wednesday. Anastacia and Bethany… they are so sweet and adorable!! SEE LOOK —–>
Arn’t they beautiful!! Irish Blue somethings, they come with papers, proper show Ratties, not that I’m going to show them, they are just pets.
In other interesting news, my mother gave me a heap of old books that she found when she was cleaning out the house (they are moving to the country) one of them is a 1920’s printing of The Grimm’s Fairy Tales. I tell you what… gore!!! I thought they would be all nice and sweet and kiddy, but NOT! Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, blood, guts, cutting off body parts (toe’s, heel’s etc) ARGH! I had no idea, but its interesting none the less, don’t know if I would read the ‘unabridged’ versions to children.
I tried to start reading Dickens; A Tale of Two Cities, buts it’s a little dry, so when i’m keen I may try again.
Sydney Gay and Lebian Mardi Gra’s are on this weekend. Even if I wasn’t so sick, I still would not have gone, It’s over rated, and the only reason people go is for the massive after party, and excuse to get wasted (whatever your poison may be) in a different location. You see one: you see them all. I might drag my mother along to one in the next couple of years, hehe that would be an interesting experience… hmmm? She took going to a Gay club fairly well…
I took Kat out for dinner for her birthday, I couldn’t make it to her original party, as I was sick at the time. We went to Two Sisters Thai, they had the nicest food, and really good service. I’m not easy to pleased and I have made some waiting staff cry if their service falls short, or their food is poor. This was really good, I paticualy enjoyed the Saffron Rice! I tried making some myself the other night, it didn’t work – then again I wasn’t really following a set recipe except what was off the back of the Saffron box. Saffron claims to be the most expensive spice of the planet (1kg ~ $8,000-$10,000), made from the Stigmas of the Saffron something or rather (hehe very technical) that only flower two to three weeks out of a year in Autumn and its only harvested and packed by hand. Sounds like something out of a fantasy movie! But anyway @ $8.50 for 0.25grams [wasted] next time i’ll research better!
I’m even boring myself now.

An old Grimm’s fairy tale… would you like to sell it to me for a fair price? i teach children’s literature at uni and would like to get hold of those old books.

Saffron is very expensive. Other than color, it really doesn’t add that much. That was interesting about the kiddie books. Of course, I’ve only ever seen the “pop” versions.
