Well-Earned Reprieve.

I woke up today with a dry throat, again. Kind of scratchy. Yet it wasn’t the scratchy that was a precursor to a sore throat. I can just tell. I’m finally at the point where I can roll out of bed a half hour before my shift starts. Bright and early at 7 AM, today. Once I got there, Melissa went to the back to do whatever it was she was doing. Talking, I found my voice going. Fast. Thing is, when you’re surrounded by fresh baked goods, you simply can’t cough. Not possible. There are no acceptable directions “away” from the goods that you can cough, nor can you simply cover your mouth. Because your hands touch food. Nevermind the wax paper. Ever see a Carlin skit (or some other comic) about whether germs can simply crawl across the other side of the paper? *laughs*

*sneezes*

So I simply tried to clear my throat without coughing, not succeeding. Finally, I got a break in customers, and went over to a different area to cough while covering my mouth. I then immediately washed my hands. My voice was fine for the rest of the day.

I just checked my slips of register tape that I write my schedule on. My last day off was Wednesday of last week. *blinks* No wonder I feel fatigued! Working 8 – 9 hours a day for nine days in a row would tire anybody out. My next days off are TOMORROW, Monday, and the Friday after that. Not that I have anything to do on Fridays, but isn’t it cool that they graced me with Friday off?

I was supposed to open three days next week, two days with Jenny watching me. Jenny and I talked to Steve, and I’m taking her hours on Sunday and will have Monday off. Gotta love the constantly changing schedule. It’s better this way, I don’t need her to watch me two more days. I’ll be fine openning Tuesday with her, and then openning solo on Wednesday. Kind of exciting. I’ve been working here, what, a month?

I passed out again today after work. Not for long. I just couldn’t stay awake while playing Ocarina of Time. Tomorrow’s going to feel so nice, waking up. I asked Wendi if we could go out to Chevys tomorrow. The token family meal. It’s a ways down route ten, but I’m in horrid Chi-Chi’s withdrawal, and Chevys is the closest thing I know of. *purrs, distressed* I MISS MY CHI-CHI’S.

I’m at 86 hours and 50 minutes, over the past two weeks. FAT PAYCHECK. (As I like saying.) The 10 – 6 shift on Saturday is always interesting. Should put me at around 95 hours. *stretches* I wonder if the Direct Deposit will be good by then. Wait. We just switched banks. We used to be Fleet – I mean Bank of America. There’s one within view of the front of the store. Now we’re Wachovia. Whatever, I’m still cashing my check at that same bank.

Calm. I could get used to taking so many hot baths. Given how shitty our hot water heater is, I simply turn the water on full-hot, and let it fill. By the time it reaches optimum depth, the water coming out of the tap has cooled down, anyway. You know, who decided the dimensions of the modern bathtub-shower combo? I’m not even all that big, and it’s interesting to watch me fit into it. Just a foot or two and I could fit my feet in, it need not be wider. And it couldn’t kill them to put a backrest into the far end of it? It’s not that complicated, the floor of the tub would still be flat. … Makes me want to visit my local Home Depot.

*wheezes* Hmm, I am drinking orange jews.

I installed Sims the other day (sometime before this nine-day marathon), but haven’t gotten around to playing. The mood hasn’t struck me yet. Perhaps it will. I still have a game of Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force that I’m going through. Love that game. I’m at the Gunship, right now. I like using a code and giving myself a tricorder for no reason. Just makes me feel all Trekkie-like to walk around a Borg Cube with a tricorder. *giggles* Now, if only the tricorder was actually a useful part of the game, instead of being an afterthought. Ah, but if it was useful, the writers would have found a way to make you hate using the tricorder to solve puzzles. You know how programmers end up doing that.

Don’t get me started on how I think the Borg should be able to adapt to Infinite Modulation.

I love how one of the Klingon taunts is “Puny human”. I personally think the Scavenger Rifle is the worst weapon. I try to avoid using it whenever possible. I favor the Photon Cannon and the Compression Rifle. Arc Welder is cool, but eats ammo. Same with the Tetreyon Pulse Disrupter. Grenade Launcher is cool. Fun way to take out a group of people fighting amongst themselves. IMod.. kind of sucks. Phaser is cool.

*sneezes*

My parents have been saying things that make me want to smack them upside the head. I’ve at least reached the point where I’m saying nothing in return, as opposed to snapping. Perhaps I’ll even learn how to respond to them!

*goes to blow his nose*

I’m starting to remember people that come in. I’ve seen Al a couple of times. Diane claims I make good cappicinos. …Okay, whatever dude! *laughs*

I should start offering to make my personal concoction. Rather simple. Two and a half pumps hot chocolate, one pump house spice. Try it, Mary. It’s good. Doesn’t need anything else. For those wondering, the house spice is honey, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. That’s what the bottle the sludge comes out of says. *smirks*

I’ve already mentioned the awesomeness of Icee Chai.

I mentioned to Susan how I like making drinks. She said not to bother being a bartender. She said she’s done it before, and people bitch too much. ..*laughs* Gotta love working with people older than you.

Thinking about closing Sunday. Two notes: One, I want to close Bakery. Because, hey, I know how to do it. Two, there’s this meeting that day. Mike put up a notice a week and a half ago that the store would be closing an hour early just for this meeting. In the notice, it specifically said not to ask a manager what it’s about. So, who knows. Which makes me think. If all these people are coming in around close, that means there’s going to be a LOT of people in there, and closing procedures probably will be done very fast.

I think that’s all on my mind, short of sharing how I like to fondle my balls, or have been resisting the urge to snap the thongs of my coworkers. Far cry from the girl whose ass is always hanging out, sometimes your underwear just sort of slips above your pants. It happens. Oh, reminds me. (I know, memory is odd like that.) I told Jenny she smelled good today and she said she was wearing Pink by Victoria’s Secret. Nothing overpowering, just kind of sweet smelling. I didn’t even notice she was wearing it until she was standing right next to me for a few seconds. Just thought I’d share.

you’re so cute, what with your star trek and ball-fondling.

Is that new Sims? I had a lot of the old ones but with the new comp I can’t reinstall them since my sis lost all the cases with the serial codes on them. Yarg. Anyhow, I’m assuming you don’t need the others for the new one? *hopes and prays or sommat*

1) GOOD FOR YOU for not responding to your parents comments. I know that’s been a journey, and I know it takes a lot of self control to stay quiet. 2) What kinds of things are they saying? (ie, Backhanded, critical or just annoying?)

Life is so interesting… eh, how do you survive working like a freak??

I love the sims.

Oh my GOD. TIMMY?! I’m Osantette. I am always so freaking amazed when I find people with different names when I am a differently named person. My son’s penis is beautiful, by the way. It’s so unscathed and healthy-like.

I miss Chi-Chi’s too, it was like the only restaurant of its kind around here besides Taco Bell. I want a taco salad! We should protest Timmy lol Glad work is going well for you, you sexy Panera Bread drink mixer employee you! lol Rawr! LOL Timmy you are hot! lol

I may not be able to stop by during the week this week, but when I get the chance, I’ll come and order your special drink. I saw Jenny working the register when I was there today and she is pretty. *nods* And there was something incredibly familiar about Mike though I cannot figure out what. *shrugs* See you soon maybe. 😛

After making 87398742938 wrong turns, my friend (who drove me) and I got there and I knew that after all the time we wasted and all the trouble it was getting there that you weren’t gonna be there. I looked at name tags and recognised the names since you write about them in your diary. I pointed out Mike to my friend who was with me (another ODer) and he went over to ask for you and Mike said…

…you had left about a half hour ago. *falls over* Yea, I agree about the make up thing. I used to wear makeup because it was fun (I wore like, costume makeup. It was great and I looked ridiculous.) but I don’t bother anymore. It’s just pointless. 🙂 *laughs* You’re so right about Dante but I don’t think that’s who I was thinking of. 😛

I love subtle scents that just sneak up on you. Like Long Island Iced Tea. Well, that’s not a smell but hey, it sure does sneak up on you, aye? ::Grins::

If you’re a dyed-in-the-wool Trekkie, don’t go to the Star Trek musuem/ride/restaurant in Las Vegas. The ride and the restaurant (Deep Space 9) are awesome, but not the Trek museum. When you see how cheesy the tricorders and the communicators and the phaser pistols and rifles are, it ruins the show. They look so cool on TV, but in real life? They look like cheap made-in-China crap from Toys R Us.

I kinda want nachos now. Or maybe Panera — I’ve never actually had anything from there except bagels once.

Are you kidding?? Don’t listen to her!! Bartending is easy money. And Friggin good money ya people tell you there troubles and bitch, but what else is knew, they do that in any customer service job. You should know that (winks)

i suck at closing bakery. and i’ll have to try your concoction. my used-to-be coworker andrea used to make hot caramel milk… just caramel and milk… with whip on top. yum. some of my other coworkers… asya and alia… make a combination of chocolate and caramel. like a hot chocomel. hahaha. [i made that name up] um. yes. MAKING DRINKS IS FUN. i made my manager damian a mocha the other…

…night cuz he had a headache, and caffeine gets rid of headaches. he appreciated it muchly. oh, AND he let me go on break but stay on the clock. wtf? like he told me to take a break and i went to punch out and he said, “mary… just hit cancel… this break’s on me.” oh and i had an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. it was pretty good. toasted twice. mmm. crispy!

January 21, 2005

btw: the pepperblue steak is DAMN GOOD… one of my coworkers told me to try it on tomato basil bread and it just. worked. it was good. mmm yum. and normally i would try to do everything right but i just wasnt feeling it weds night. I AM NOT A CLOSER. I AM AN OPENER. i’d much rather get up at the “ungodly” hours of the morning to set up than to stay late and clean everything up.

Haha, well, technically, my friend asked about you. And he’s not a minor. 😛 I will hunt you down. You can count on that. 🙂

Try being 8 months pregnant and fitting into a “regular” bathtub. It’s no fun and no matter which way you turn, the belly is still cold. 😮

Oh and bless you.

Hey Timmy.. I was wondering if you could check out my last entry and give me some advice…
