Vacation, Day.. five?
Picked up Jessica Emsley from the airport yesterday. Thanks to the powers of the internets, I knew her flight was delayed from taking off on time. Which meant I got precious more sleep. She took a red-eye in from Seattle, leaving (delayed) at around 12 AM PST, arriving around 8 AM EST. I was afraid I left the house a little late and would have her standing around in state of semi-paranoia, but I was right on time.
Unless she’s been lying to me, I don’t sense any awkwardness at all. Driving back from the airport was like a phone call, conversation without direct eye contact. I always say we can pick up right where we left off after months of no contact. We went to local mexican for lunch, but otherwise we spent the day relaxing. Watched a bad movie, napped, improvised dinner, watched another bad movie, and otherwise spent a lot of time talking.
After all, I always joke friendship is just talking in different locations. I’ve missed companionship. Her being here is like renting a friend. Really brings to light that I’m terrible at paying attention to my own local friends and other people I care about.
We’re due to meet up with Angie around noon, she knows some peruvian places. I believe we latently agreed to Indian tonight. I still have some cheesecake in the fridge. YUM.
Indian food? Me me me.
