Sunday Assessment for 5-29-11

Wants:

• Have fun on Monday.
• Read more Philosopher’s Stone.
• Spend some time outside.

Needs:

• Clean room.

What I’ve accomplished:

• I read.. three chapters? Sounds right.
• Definitely have continued my college squee. See two entries back.
• Have watched a couple movies with the girl.

Two nights ago, the girl and I watched Kick-ass on netflix. Ugh. Terrible movie. It felt like it wanted to be too many things at once. Earnest teenage comedy? Realism? Over-the-top-blood-and-gore? Sweet romance? Juxtapositioned together, I ultimately felt like I was watching overproduced hollywood crap. I was almost hoping Kick-ass would actually get killed, as a lesson that there are no superheros. No, seriously, just kill him midway through the film to confuse the audience, and have Hit Girl continue the final sequence by herself. I could have written a more solid story myself.

As for last night, we watched Easy A. That was an extremely enjoyable film. I like teen comedies that have a high female presence. Boy films are about getting laid. Girl films are about the judgement that comes when a girl gets laid. I need to write more movie reviews, but there’s never enough time.

Sigh, need to get ready for work.
