Quote of the Day for 11-15-6

“Don’t give up.” – Professor Wynn, Self-Defence

He’s been tricking us all semester. I knew he would throw us a curveball for the final just to screw with us. (It’s a one-credit course, so it’s only twelve weeks.) First thing he did was take half the class, split into opposite-sex partners. Ladies were on the ground first, and we were to slit their throat when he said so. My first impulse is, “Are we supposed to just resist?” Nope, that’s not what he had in mind.

There was the physical aspect, which everybody failed. You’re supposed to fail. He said nobody’s ever passed the physical in all the years he’s been teaching the course. Isometric push-ups, isometric leg raises, crunches, and regular push-ups. :: shakes head :: I have weak abs for these kinds of things. My abs were sore after the goddamn isometric push-ups!

There was the written aspect, which he only gave us about fifteen minutes for. That made me happy, as he wasn’t expecting massive essays. He did this to reinforce that sometimes we don’t have enough time.

As for the initial “You’re all dead” component, there was a point to it. He said we all made one mistake: We gave up. I sort of smacked my forehead. Thankfully, this isn’t a new idea to me. It’s an idea I know quite well. I wonder if anybody else was intelligent enough to understand his point.

sounds better than my prof’s quote of the day yesterday “I don’t even know what the hell i was talking about”

as long as it doesn’t screw with a grade – I’m all for making points
