Morning of 12-19-6
I find it amazing that if I get up earlier, I’m able to move a lot faster and complete tasks in less time than if I got up later. If I have a deadline to finish things by, I’m done before then. Like when studying. But give me all day to do something, I’ll just sit on my ass. I have a final at 8 AM, and another one later on at 6:30 PM. I decided I’d rather lift before my first final, to ensure proper pre-workout nutrition. Trust me, I know I’d be more motivated to haul weight BEFORE my final.
So, I got up at 5 AM, and was out the door by.. 5:50? Something like that. Light crowd in the Y, but still people. Different crowd. Also, traffic was a bit more assholeish than usual. Finished workout in about forty minutes, warm-up and stretching included. Was here around 7:20 AM. I made some food last night and quickly realized, “Oh. My tuna didn’t defrost.” Not a big deal. I just had a little, and a banana. I’m never hungry after I lift. Probably due to the parasympathetic nervous system shutting down. Damn you, A&P. I did my spanish studying last night, so thought I’d go over things. I forgot that I can’t acquire new information like that first thing in the morning. I figure whatever I know, I know.
Of course, I’m not stupid. I already promised myself a nap in the middle of the day. There’s no way in hell I can study for six hours straight in the library prior to my nutrition test without a nap. So I figure I’ll get myself ready, study, and whenever I feel like napping, I will.

Addendum: As I suspected, my memory retrieval would be right on par. I’m so glad I brainstormed the freewrite last night. I figured just thinking about it would prime my brain and I would end up thinking of more things to say. That’s exactly what happened. After writing 50K for nanowrimo, suddenly the idea of writing ONLY fifty words in spanish seems stupidly easy. I actually had a moment where I was starting to think in spanish. That’s kind of scary. Vocabulary has always been my downfall in spanish. I should review all the vocabulary over break. No, seriously. I mean it this time!
I should have stated that I made myself three sandwiches last night. Two tuna, and one chicken with a little italian dressing. I tossed them in the freezer so they’d last through today better. Seems chillier outside, so they should be okay in the van. THAT is why my tuna was still frozen. Bread was fine, though. I know, I’m a strange little boy.
I think I need to #2. I love #2ing. After exerbabble.
I find that too. I don’t know why I stay in bed lazing about thinking it’s going to get any better. Once I’m up and moving, I feel much better. But I still dread it, go figure.

hi Timster (lol – hope you don’t hate that!). believe me, I’ve done the pull up negatives, I know how – that is how I strained the muscle I referred to. Yes, my upper body is THAT weak – even an unassisted negative gave me a strain that lasted for months. (and it goes without saying I can’t do a pullup at all, not one now, not one in my life – YET) So this time I’m starting conservatively and carefully – assisted both ways. Listening to my body for that difference between exhaustion and strain before I graduate to actual negatives.

Oh yeah, and also I weight 140 lbs. When the day comes that I can do one pull up, there will be great cause for celebration, and I know even one is going to be an amazing workout. In fact, that is my goal – besides the general benefits you get from working out – I have as my #1 goal – my mount everest – my measure of ultimate success in all this – to work up to be able to do ONE pullup for thefirst time in my life. (if I can do more than one after that, great – but one will represent the greatest fitness I’ve ever achieved, a major win). I added a paragraph to that entry by the way.

Hope you do/did well on your finals. 🙂 I’m the same way about getting up and getting things done. If I get up at 6 am, shower and dress, and start doing things, I get more done and just feel better all day. But when my kiddo lets me sleep in until 8 and we stay in pj’s until noon, I just feel so lazy and more tired.

so what is your resting heart rate? Mine’s normally 60, tho they measured it last week in the drug store (free blood pressure check too) and it was 52.

Unfortunately I don’t work out at a gym – we have a full set of free weights and a bench at home, plus the pull up bar. All workout method must come from this! I realise 10 of anything is not in the power range (3-6) but I’m not strong enough to do higher weights in that range yet without straining something – I’ll work up to it, now that I’m working out every day and highly motivated, that day will come.

I don’t work out the SAME muscles every day! I wait until soreness goes away from any particular muscle group before working it out again, which means 3-4-5 days between before that same movement workout. I tried working out a muscle group a few days later while still sore and strained something (lasted months!) so I don’t dare that again.
