Jacks and Pins.

Such anticipation, frustration, and wonder. Everything except for the video card came today. May come tomorrow. But no later than Monday.

A couple hours later, most of it seemed done. Installing the CPU turned out to be the easiest part. Mounting the heatsink and fan was easy. I did have to take out my CD drive in order to install the motherboard into the chassis.

Lots of little pins. Pins for front audio. Sixteen individual little wires for the front usb. The hd activity wire seemed to be missing, until I realized that case had neither a power light nor a hd activity light. Curious.

Without a video card, there’s no way to know what’s going on with the computer. No visual. I also have no idea which way the speaker thingie is supposed to fit in.

After much patience, I mentally and visually recounted everything that needed to be plugged in for it to run. I haven’t installed the new hard drive, as that isn’t needed until I have a video card. Made sure the power for the CPU fan was in, if it isn’t you can easily fry a CPU.

Plugged it in, flipped the switch in the back. Lights on the keyboard went on. Hit the power in the front. Lights all over the chassis lit up.

And then…

Nothing. I was expecting the fans to spin, but.. nothing. Not even a beep.

I noticed a single yellow LED on one of my BLINGram. The other BLINGram was blank. I turned her power off, unplugged, then switched the RAM. The same BLINGram lit up yellow, in the different DIMM slot. Puzzling.

I used an anti-static device I got two summers ago working for Republicans. I was grounded. I somehow doubt I fried the motherboard. I did plenty of shit with Lisa’s motherboard without frying it.

Well, don’t know. I’ll wait until the video card comes to make a judgement. I haven’t even taken my new LCD out. Even if I take it out, I’ll have no space for it on my desk while I’m still fiddling with Roxanne’s insides. And so… I wait.

Patience is a virtue I have little of. May the force be with you.

I wish I could offer some help but I’m a dumbfuck when it comes to computer stuff like this. Good luck!
