Fuck yeah!
It couldn’t be the power supply. While the four-pin molexes had no life, I did get a reading off the main atx power supply. That’s all the convincing I needed that the power supply wasn’t bad.
I had a last-ditch effort. I read somewhere that there can be interference from how you screw the motherboard in. So, I took the motherboard out and laid it on top of the anti-static bag it came in. (with the anti-static cushion under the anti-static bag).
All I wanted was a sign that it worked. I took out the power supply so I could eliminate assembly problems there, and laid it so the 12V DC could plug into the motherboard. I bought the case alongside and plugged in only the speaker, the power, and the reset leads. I plugged in the atx power and the 12V DC. (That 12V powers most of the CPU, by the way.) Making sure the CPU fan was plugged in, I hit the power on the PSU.
Nothing, as usual. Then I hit power on the case.
LIGHTS! CPU FAN SPINNING!
And.
NOISE!
One long beep. I had even taken out the RAM to eliminate that as a cause.
I feel so relieved to know it works. Okay, Roxanne is pretty much splayed across my room in bits and pieces. But the power supply and motherboard WORK. I finally saw life whereas before I saw nothing.
I’m not sure how I fucked up putting the motherboard in, but I’m willing to bet that’s where I went wrong. See, the motherboard doesn’t align perfectly with the PCI slots or the .. well, the panel were all the I/O is. I may have to leave the screws a little loose, I’m not sure.
All I know is that I can get her to work. I think I’ll start slowly, piece by piece. Starting her at each step to make sure nothing screws up. And of COURSE I do this shortly before midnight when I have a 7 AM shift the next morning. ..*laughs*
I’m just so relieved. I’m finally smiling again.

I bet you somehow grounded the mobo to the case, although that doesn’t explain the dead molexes. If you have an Intel proc, it’s probably not a good idea to leave the mobo loose- the heatsink on those can be heavy. Probably not a good idea with an AMD, either. But at least you know it’s alive.

You might try placing .125″ plastic spacers or shims at each of the mounting posts for the mombo. The mobo certainly doesn’t need to be grounded to the case. I’m a little irritated (for you) that TigerDirect would not verify at the factory, proper integration of individual subassemblies for fit/finish. In any case, I would not leave the mobo loose in the case.
