Fact of the Day for 2-1-7
Your ‘core’ is not a muscle, it’s marketing term coined by people who want to convince you that they’re strengthing something you can not see, nor measure. If you want to impress me, use specific muscle names like “quadratus lumborum” and “intercostals”, not vague terms.
I’m working on my pectoralialias vagueness.

My favorite muscle to work out is my looooove muscle *Slaps self*

I like…to work on my obliques and…lower back muscles?

I dunnooooo… I think that’s more of a challenge than a fact.

Oh, I’m not saying it’s not annoying. Just pointing out your challenging demeanor. Maybe you’re just more intimidating, now that you’re all buff. 😛

RYNs: Ya might as well be speaking Greek for all I know about this stuff.

Core (anatomy) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The “core” refers, in it’s most general of definitions, to the body minus the legs and arms. Functional movements are highly dependent on the core, and lack of core development can result in a preponderance to injury. The major muscles of the core reside in the area of the belly and the mid and lower back (not the shoulders), and peripherally include the hips, the shoulders and the neck. This is related to our discussion about the merits of cardio-aerobic exercise. You’re so into lifting, you have no conception that there could be anything valuable outside of lifting heavy object A to strengthen muscle B. You’re like this in a lot of areas, actually. Did it ever occur to you that *GASP* you might not know everything and you might be wrong about some things?? In a way, you’re just like your dad. Your mind is set, and won’t budge in any way.

Major muscles included in the core are the pelvic floor muscles, transversus abdominis, multifidus, interal and external obliques, rectus abdominis, erector spinae (sacrospinalis) especially the longissimus thoracis, and the diaphragm. Minor core muscles include the latissimus dorsi, gluteus maximus, and trapezius. There, does that impress you?

Whatever, Timmy. I always miss your point, don’t I. You’re never wrong, I’m always wrong, and however I take it is never in the intended manner. I forget it’s pointless trying to argue with you.

Apparently you’re used to everyone lapping up whatever you have to say with a spoon and never questioning you. When I know something, I know it, and I’m not going to agree with your misguided rationale just to feed your ego, sorry. You can get that from other female diarists.

They say ‘core’ because it’s easier to say in the middle of a workout video than rattle off all the big names of all the muscles that the core incorporates. And they do not ‘sell’ DVDs because they tell you they’ll strengthen your core. I’ve never once bought a DVD because YAY! It promised to strengthen my core! People buy workout/exercise/diet related stuff because they want to lose weight and/ortone up. Which goes back to people not liking how they look because of societal standards of beauty. When was the last time you bought a workout DVD anyway? Oh, right. Never. It’s not even about the damn entry in the first place, so enough already. It’s about the arrogance in the way you write. You assume that your opinion is right and/or superior to that of everyone else because you know everything. This ‘fact of the day’ shit? It’s not fact. It’s your goddamn opinion. You’re not enlightening any stupid masses with this crap.
