Exerbabble for 5-1-6
Let’s get some exerbabble out of the day.
I got up early around 6:30 AM. I had a mental plan of things I had to do. I knew working out would stabilize me for the day. I also knew it would take me a while. I downed my oatmeal, brushed my teeth, shaved, took pictures along the way. I was about a half hour late leaving. My approximation was on the mark, as I was a half-hour late to class.
I seem to have lost my notecard, but I know what I did today. Today’s workout: (set x reps)
- Pull-ups: 8, 6, 3 @ bodyweight
Arnold Press: 4×6 @ 30 lbs
Back Squat: 4×6 @ 165 lbs
Standing Calf Raises: 4×6 @ 340 lbs
Romanian Deadlift: 2×10 @ 145 lbs
Crunches: 2×15 @ 10 lbs
Bent-over Row: 2×12 @ 70 lbs
Cuban Rotation: 2×7 @ 30 lbs
Current bodyweight: 142.8 (+.4; weekly average of 141.4 lbs)
I finally finished the 4×6 for Arnold Presses. I’ll either match it in four days, or add a fifth set. Aiming for 4×7 is ambitious. 30 lbs still feels heavy, I’m not sure when I’ll want to add 35 lbs to my rotation.
I’ve been tossing in back squats because I figured I wasn’t hitting my quads hard enough. I forget whether I’ve done 4×6 @ 165 lbs before. I know that’s my high weight. It is heavy. It’s.. a matter of trusting yourself. To go down and know your form well enough to come back up. Grawr.
You know what’s funny? My back felt AWESOME after I finished my RDL. Normally I feel a little tightness in my lower back, as if it was clenched the whole time. Today, nothing of the sort. Memory tells me that my legs were ever-so-slightly sore this morning. Just a tinge. And I said, “Work through it. They’re fine.” Perfect instinct. My legs feel great. I’ll try a higher weight when I do RDL on Wednesday.
As for doing only two sets for the rest of my workout, well. I have been maintaining a high intensity throughout my workout. I can finish it, absolutely. But I think it’s too much. I see other types of full-body workouts, and people tend to do only four or five exercises. I simply don’t see routines that have eight exercises.
My week (three consecutive workouts) of no benching is up, and I hope the cuban rotations make a difference. I’ll try a simple straight bench on Wednesday and see how my right shoulder feels. Afterwards, I’ll rotate decline-incline-decline-straight, so on and so forth.
Funny thing about my weight. At first, I weighed 143. Then I realized, “Oh wait, I have to pee.” Peed naked, which was an odd feeling. Came back, weighed 142.8. *giggles*
Now on to the real fun part of the day…
Happy bodybuilding, Timmy.
