Exerbabble for 4-2-6

I was up late because I was rather.. happy? Yeah. I’m not even sure what time I got up, due to those stupid farmers. I had my morning water and bread, peed a couple times, had breakfast, and.

    Squat: 4×6 @ 165 lbs
    Shoulder Press: 3×3 @ 85 lbs, 3×5 @ 75 lbs
    Pull-Up: 3×6 @ bodyweight
    Standing Calf Raise: 10, 9, 8 @ 300 lbs
    Bench Press: 2×10, 4 @ 85 lbs
    Crunches: 3×15
    Back Extension: 3×10 @ 10 lbs

I felt rather in control of the weight, so I did a fourth set for my squat. I’ll either add more weight and see what I can do with it, or drop the weight and go for reps. Some ad lib periodization. I watched my descent, and then really focused on that initial thrust upwards. I felt it in my hamstrings, which surprised me a little.

I felt like my shoulder press was dragging, so I decided to add ten pounds and see what I could do it with. After those initial three sets, I dropped the weight back to what I’m up to. It felt.. lighter. Of course, I’d been fatigued, so I couldn’t exactly do as much. Variety is good.

Now this’ll sound a little strange. I was on the last rep of the last set of pull-ups, finishing it off, when I tweaked my neck. I bet I wasn’t holding form. *shrugs*

Didn’t bother me until I tried doing bent-over rows. I did one rep and felt something, so I stopped. Went off to do crunches, and did some back extensions rather than deadlifts. I get these now and then, though never from working out. Annoying as hell. Like you can tilt your head one way, but not the other.

I saw a guy using a chest press machine, the one were you sit and press outwards. Like a bench press, except flipped up. He seemed rather proud of himself, except I noticed he kept using leverage to move the thing out. That’s hardly going to help your cause, pal. I’d swear I saw a ripped guy chuckle at him. He looks like what I’ll look like when I’m ripped, except a little bit taller. Sort of? Heh.

I saw these teenagers trying to do back extensions with 25 and 35 pound plates. Are you kidding me? I’ve stayed with the 10 lb plate because I don’t like feeling my back fatigue too early into sets. If I were to upgrade to 25 lbs, I’d have to cut my reps down a lot, maybe aim for 4×6.

I just ate some cottage cheese. I think I’ll eat something else now. Variety and such.

You being happy makes me SOOOOO happy. : D

I’d be too scared that the weight will crush my ribs. But, I don’t think I’d care if it did. Heh.

RYN: Eh, just like any team test of strength. I’d imagine you’d have to have a lot of trust in your partner and coordinating keeping that thing balanced.

Hmmm. I did my back extensions on the Nautilus at 110lbs. I’m not sure how that translates into free weights. I do keep good form, and I was finishing all of my sets at that weight. I think it has a lot to do with your overall musculature. I’ve always had a pretty strong core. But I also do low reps/high weights on everything. I only had time for 3 sets of anything, even with splits.

i’m jealous of those abs you have, especially with only 3X15 of them (although I don’t know all of your routines so I might be wrong :S) but as a girl, I’ll spend thirty minutes + four or five times a week to maintain my abs. you crazy boys 🙂
