What I’ve learned is patience and humility. There’s virtue in trying to pile weight on for growth and mental endurance. But more important is being able to handle weight with good form. Just because you’re not doing an outright max effort doesn’t mean you’re getting nothing out of your workout.

Scaled my high pulls back to 105 and made sure my leg drive was doing the work, not so much my upper body.

Did a warm-up for snatch-grip deadlifts. About time. Something else I did, after watching that Dan John video via fitcast, I consciously pulled my scapula back and together. It seemed to help in holding my entire body “together”. Now I know keeping your shoulders back is something you’re normally supposed to do, but if you throw all the things you need to do at a n00b, his brain will explode. One thing at a time.

I was using a overhand grip, as using an alternating grip for snatch-grip feels a little weird. That, and I want my grip to improve. I had to reset my grip a half-dozen times, but I’d rather my grip be my weak point than my leg drive. Had to make sure my hips got low enough once or twice. I seemed to be moving slowly, but my form was better. Like I said, consciously pulling my shoulders back held me together, and probably prevented me from doing whatever it is I did last week.

I was quite motivated to do chin-ups. I’m sure I’ll progress more next week. I should handle those 50 lb DB rows next workout without a problem.

I actually hit an energy wall during woodchoppers. I felt tired! Not like that stopped me.

Adjustments: I think I’ll keep everything the same, really. I’ll only add 10 lbs to my deadlift if I feel I’m up to it. I’d rather do what I can do with good form. It’s one thing to throw everything you have into a 1RM. It’s quite another to struggle through your regular work sets.
