3 @ 95 lbs, 3 @ 135 lbs
5×5 @ 185 lbs
BB Deadlift w/Shrug:
1 @ 185 lbs
5×5 @ 225 lbs
Alternating Sets:
DB Bulgarian Split Squat: 5×5 @ 25 lbs (+5 lbs)
DB Step-up: 5×5 @ 25 lbs (+5 lbs)
Reverse Crunch: 3×15 @ BW Rest: 60 seconds
(Usual stretching.)
Squats felt a lot more solid today. Don’t know why. The weight felt heavy, but I just felt more steady and able to control the weight.
Something curious with deadlifts. I moved my grip out a few inches, and this seemed to help. I’m not sure why. Moving your grip out at all causes you to have to get down an inch or two lower. Which, in theory, would make it harder, however I found it easier to get my hips lower. I felt more stable, tighter. TIGHTER LIKE A VIRGIN ANUS. Ahem.
Bulgarian Split Squats felt fine, though the step-ups felt harder. Next session will be the last of this set/rep, so I’ll be finishing with 30 lbs. I’ll increase the squats 5 or 10 lbs. I’ll keep the deadlifts the same weight – I’ll just try to tighten my rest periods a little. This shit’s hard!
I was thinking about how I’m getting a little tired of squats and deadlifts. Blasphemy, I know. But it’s a lot of hard work. Then I realized that Hypertrophy II drops leg frequency to once a week. Curious. It almost makes sense. Maybe I will do Hypertrophy II next. After the mandatory one week off, of course.
In the showers, a bunch of older guys were having typical loud conversation. I know it disturbs some people that it’s possible to have conversation while completely naked. And, you know, showering. Frankly, those people are too uptight. I don’t really say much, nor interact, as I’m far too young compared to most of these guys. But I get a certain feeling of acceptance out of just being there. I’ve pondered why this setting does it more than other settings, and I think it’s because, as a child, I spent a lot of time around people much older than I. (No, they weren’t naked and showering.)
