Cardio for 5-3-9

I woke up like a rock this morning. Must be because I didn’t eat enough last night. I made chili, but it was a DISASTER. I used dry beans and didn’t realize just how long it would take for them to hydrate. Concurrently, I used too much black beans and lentils, so the proportions were completely off. I’ll try to make some rice and see if I can make it savable. Seems like a complete waste to throw it to the birds.

The first couple feet felt like I wanted to die, but then it slowly got easier as I hit steady state. I figured I’d hit my low marker of a mile. I got there and realized I had some left in the tank. So I kept going. Got to a mile and a half and kept going. I would have finished the lap but I didn’t want to chance passing by an unleashed dog again. So, total distance of 1.75 miles, about. Maybe 1.8. Whatever.

If I can just keep at it, I can inch my way towards three miles.

The coolrunnings website seems to have a really awkward jump from intervals to distance runs. Also, running for time in a treadmill does not at all match up with running for distance. The website seems to assume you run at a 6 mph pace, or a mile in ten minutes. Long intervals on a treadmill, I worked myself up to. But I wasn’t ready to jog two miles straight last week. Maybe next week. My goal of jogging 3 miles straight by the end of June is still within reach.

Ate and am freshly showered. Oh, better trim my nails before they desoften.

Soak the beans over night before using them! Not lentils, though.
