…But I’m a Carnivore!
Eating so well has had an unintended side-effect: I’m starting to lose my taste for meat. Now this scares the shit out of me for the simple reason that there isn’t much I actually like to eat. My taste buds are horrible. I hate food. The thought of something dripping in saturated fat, while displeasing before, really turns me off now. It makes my tongue completely flaccid!
Meanwhile, I’m downing three 32 oz containers of yogurt, one 64 oz container of cottage cheese, and three to four gallons of milk a week. That’s a LOT of saturated fat! If I ever lose my taste for dairy, I’ll flat-out starve.
It’s not so simple as just eating less fatty things. I realized a few months ago that I don’t really like chicken all that much. There’s a LOT of things I didn’t really like that I ate anyway. And now there’s things I used to like that I just can’t eat anymore. I used to frequent the diner, right? I used to dig their burgers. One of the better dinerburgers I’ve had. We went there today, I hadn’t been there in a while. It tasted… underwhelming. I tasted the ketchup more than anything else. Yeah. My level of processed food is so low, I’m wondering if I’m getting enough salt. Ha ha. Nah, I’m sure I get some. ..Somewhere.
I don’t know. I’m trying to figure out how I’m living despite the fact that my taste for meat is declining AND I eat next to no vegetables! Before, I’d say I lived off of dairy, meat, and grain. But take away meat, and I’m left with dairy and grain! NOEZ! Why do you think I tried that fruit mush? I don’t really like fruit, the fruit mush helps me get it in me. OH. I’ve also substantially increased my tuna intake recently. You know, Paige ate a lot of salmon, and she never tasted fishy.
It’s the moment most people are afraid of. People seem to be really resistant to ever giving up the taste of their comfort foods. Whatever it is their diet consists of. If I can’t enjoy a good fatburger, what’s the sense in living? Heh. (I’m so glad Fatburger is making its way out of California.) I will say that if I ever lose my taste for milk, I’m going to break something. I’ve always loved milk, my entire life. I live off of it. After being at school for a good amount of time, the first thing I do when I get home is have a nice tall glass of milk. Mmm.
Hey, it’s not my fault they don’t sell human breastmilk in the stores.
And yes, I know I’m technically an omnivore, but humor me. I just want to enjoy my meeeeeeeeaat! Man can not live on rice and beans alone!
i had a burger for dinner last night… and another for lunch! although that was unintentional. mmmmm saturated fat.

Maybe Its Just A Phase. . . Perhaps A Slow Reintroduction Of Meat Into Your Diet Would Help? It Could Mean That There Is A Deficiency In Your Diet. . But I Cant Imagine What It Could Be Because It Sounds Like Youre Doing Ok. I Dunno.

I can’t wait to go home so I can drink some milk. I hate the milk in the dining hall. It’s icky. The worst is that my mom has taken to buying 1%… Oh well. I’ll just have to live with it.

i don’t really eat much meat anymore either. i drink an Ensure for lunch every day, and it has enough protein and iron that i don’t crave meat at all. good god. slow down on the yogert! it’s funny, most people develope a low tolerance for dairy as they get older. especially ethnicities other than the northern european crowd.

I love me some meat. Love it love it love it. I like vegan food but I could never prefer it over meat. I, too, have found that when I started eating healthy, the less-healthy things that I used to love started to taste like crap. Like white bread and American cheese, for example. When I got pregnant I switched to wheat bread and real cheese, and now the other stuff has no flavor at all. <P> I love dairy too. I don’t care how people say it’s bad for us and we’re not meant to eat it…it’s just so damn good. I wish I had some cottage cheese now. I’ve been eating that a lot lately.

ryn: you’re like the crazy banana guy from the Angela’s Ashes sequel (‘Tis). but with milk. i am a pro at Lords of the Realm 2. and EVERYTIME i run my kindgom on cows alone (farming grain is too iffy), i have an amazing population growth for a long time, then everyone starts dying, and i start losing 20 cows a season. then i’m defeated. i know you can’t use a videogame as a reference, buthell. if you start going totally nuts, i’m blaming the milk.

I’m kinda like you with my taste buds. It’s why I don’t smoke. Don’t drink anything that’s not “sweet” like rum & coke.. or vodka and coke. lol. I HATE beer. You?

That randomly reminded me of the one thing I didn’t like about the movie Borat… The part where he offers so and so he’s interviewing some cheese made from his wife’s breast milk. Yeah. That’s not possible. You can’t make cheese out of human milk. So that part annoyed me for some reason. That being said… veggies are GOD, Timmy. Is there really no veggie you like?? There areso many!

Well, I haven’t eaten any meat in over a year, and I can’t say I miss it. For a while, I missed chicken wings. Now just the thought of them grosses me out. But, I love meat analogs. Had soy “BBQ pork riblets” tonight. Dang if it didn’t taste just like real pork. To me, anyway. Vegan meatballs rule, too. I don’t miss nor do I want the “real thing.” The thought of drinking milk ..? um.. speewwwww.

So, yeah, for the record, I’m vegan, most of the time.. but my comfort food of choice? Sushi, of all things. Love the variety.. the fish on the rice, the atmosphere, etc. Although lately I just go to this local sushi buffet where they make it fresh, lots of different kinds, AYCE.. I can do about 3 plates worth and it’s reasonable, too, $19.95. AND they have root beer (beverage of choice).
