I Panicked A Bit!

In all my 58 years on this planet I’ve NEVER EVER been stuck in a lift….until yesterday!

Went trotting into the Co-Op lift, pressed 1 for up, nothing happened so I pressed 0 then 1 again thinking it was just a glitch and still nothing happened. The doors were locked so I couldn’t get out!  Thankfully both the facing doors have huge glass panels in them so I could at least see people going past!

I kept pressing the buttons and trying to open the door but nothing happened. I rang the emergency button and a lady came down and put a key in and the door was still stuck!

She suggested I try both 1 and 0 again then a little yellow knob I need to push and twizzle to get the buttons to move….nothing!

Eventually she managed to get the lift to go up, she shot back up the steps to meet me and the door refused to budge again, she had to fiddle with the key then yank the door open!

I’m physically unabled and while I can climb the steps to the shop it’s painful and awkward for me, especially when I’m on a walking stick as I was yesterday so I use the lift whenever possible!  Thankfully it worked absolutely fine on my way back to 0!

There’s a first time for everything I suppose…!
