to let all know

Wanted to let everyone know that the baby shower turned out to be a success. There was only one person who showed up unexpectedly. (One of the people who didn’t feel a need to RSVP!!) But it all went well.

Of course, things are rarely melancholy when I’m surrounded by the CRAZINESS that is my family. 🙂 (I love you guys!)

We had a TON of food, really. My mom made pinto beans and cornbread and a few other people brought some snacky type side dishes. Penny brought a bunch of veggie and dip, which I didn’t realize I wanted until they were open. And then I proceeded to eat my weight in carrots and celery. Yum! My other mom brought some sodas and a crapload of stuff that Gramma M had picked up at Grampa Homers… I only let myself be weirded out about it for a second.. It was all sealed and closed stuff. So basically, it was just wash it off before opening it! lol Another aunt of mine brought some dessert type stuff, one of which she called ‘banana split pudding’ and, oh my goodness, it was good.. it had all that you would expect from a banana split except Ice Cream, but the yummy banana pudding substitute was perfect!! *sigh* And then miss jessee brought some weird vegan (yeah, vegan) cherry angel food cake that everyone ate a lot of. It was indeed good!

As far as gifts… well, I got a lot of really cute, but unnecessary stuff. I had registered online to allow people a feel for the things I needed and included the information needed in the shower invitation, but somehow, I don’t think I got a single thing from the registry! Oh well, like i said, it was all really pretty and cute, I’m just not sure how much of it I’ll actually use.. LOL…. L-mom and gramma M said they will go in halfsies on one of the things on the list (one of the bigger things) and I’m excited about that. There’s this pretty pink travel system (stroller/car seat combo) that I fell in love with when registering. I didn’t really expect to get it, I just liked it SO much that I went ahead and put it on there. L-mom said she’s gonna wait a few and see if it goes on sale, b/c that’s her thing, and I’m totally ok with that! 🙂 Just the idea of being able to get it when I didn’t expect to is worth it! Still waiting for Sara to make up her mind on what she’s getting. I’m figuring on either the bassinet (at about $60) or the comforter bed set (at about the same price). Those were the two things that she kept asking if I needed! She’s not good at this keeping secrets thing. LoL (But I Am. HeHeHe) I think that’s about all I can expect from here on out. It’s all good though.

I only have about eleven days until the due date. But, I don’t think I’ll go on time. My doc says that we’ll talk about inducing if/when I hit my due date without any contractions or whatever.  So, I’d imagine it’ll be about right at the end of the month. I’ll make sure mom posts a lot in her diary with info when it happens. Prolly more pictures than anyone will care to see. 🙂

Alright, I’m gonna get back to my coffee and try to finish waking up. Yes, if you can’t tell, I wrote most of this half awake. Oh, well.

Luv ya all

Yay!!! I’m so glad the shower was a success! Like, I’d squeal, I’m so excited. I’m opting to refrain from actually squealing, though, since it would be out of context for anyone that would hear it and they would undoubtedly get alarmed and then I’d have to explain and then I’d get that look. And who likes that look? And, also, now I want coffee. 🙂 Love you!

Glad to hear ‘glutony’s being checked off your list. I’m not going to squeal, but I am glad it turned out alright (though I already knew it did). And ‘stuff’ is always good to get. p.s. RYemail (and your note up there), it looks good so far. ryn(s): How is ‘coping’ with poverty through drinking hopeful? I missed that class somewhere. Oh, yea, I was probably dodging a 1×4, waltzing with a belt, romping with a boat oar. There’s definitely fear there mixed with some admiraation. Like I said, though. Maybe I’m biased. jami.

Oh, and I keep reading your last note ‘homeless’ instead of ‘hopeless’. Makes for a far funnier, yet soberingly deep interpretation. lj jami.
