Short Stuff

Meaning, this will be a short entry b/c I’m up in Piper’s room while she plays and I want to go play with her! 🙂

It’s been so disgusting outside that I’m perfectly okay being cooped up the last few days. I’m supposed to work tonight, but they may call me off so I won’t have to. If they haven’t called me by 2:30, I’ll probably call them. 🙂 I’m totally okay with this, as well. It’s been nice to just be home and get things done. I’ve cooked dinner every night this week and my house is starting to resemble a home, not just a trash heap.

The snow out the window is pretty to look at though. We’ve gotten SO much snow this winter, it’s kind of freakish. I don’t know the last winter we had this much. Thank God we have 4 wheel drive! 🙂 I think they plow our street once a week, whether we need it or not.

I need to take more time to write. I have a private journal that I write in every couple of days, but that’s not really OD worthy. Mostly train of thought stuff that no one else could understand! I’ve been writing things on OpenOffice and then copying them to here, but that always leaves that stupid html thing at the top and I hate it. For some reason, OD won’t let me go back and edit that out. It’s irritating. 🙂

Joe has been working a lot this week. They gave him back his overtime, so he’s been at work until 6 or 6:30 almost every evening. I’m starting to hate his second job, though. I hate that it takes him from home at night. It’s so cold and awful for him to be out in. Plus, he’s really only working a couple hours a night and I’m not sure that 10 hours a paycheck is really helping much. 🙁

Ok, I’ll copy/paste the stuff I wrote yesterday on NotePad and then call this an entry. In case you missed it, there’s a picture entry one back and an actual written entry two back. 🙂

I keep sleeping in! I don’t mean to. The baby is getting really good at self-entertaining and so she doesn’t cry or holler for me when she wakes up and then I don’t wake up. It’s rather annoying!

We were up a little bit late last night playing on my computer. Joe downloaded a few game things, emulators, so that we could play Ninentendo and N64 games on the laptop. It’s badass! 🙂 Ok, it’s a time-waster, but sometimes those are needed! 🙂 It’s kind of fun to sit with my husband and play Super Mario 3. We’ve been talking about getting a game system of some kind for a while now. The closest things we have are a broken Playstation and one of those plug-n-play game controllers for the TV. It has a bunch of old Sega games on it. Honestly, I prefer the old game systems, anyway. Sonic the Hedgehog was awesome!

I have found that I have a moderate amount of wireless signal on my front porch (thanks to someone’s unsecured wireless network) so I keep thinking about what things I need to do on the ‘net, but I really don’t want to be out here, right now. We are having some kind of blizzard or something and it’s bloomin’ cold! I have a little set up involving a space heater and some couch cushions, but let’s face it – negative 2 is negative 2 and space heaters don’t do much for negative 2. 😉

I’ve got about 8 million things to get done around the house today. My kitchen is a mess. The kids’ rooms are messes. I need to go through Pip’s toys and get rid of all the broken or never played with stuff. That child needs a toy box, stat. 🙂

Speaking of Piper… she is the weirdest child I’ve ever known. She’s about 2 1/4 right now and is the talkingnest damn thing I ever met. Her sentences are usually really clear and she talks about EVERYthing. She started using her babydolls (of which she has seven) as extensions of her personality. She came up to me yesterday, looking all sad, and said "Mommy, baby sad!" I asked her why baby was sad and she said "She needs mommy lovins". I picked Piper up, still holding the babydoll, and was giving her hugs and she just snuggled right in, happy as a clam. Then, ten minutes later, she comes up to me again and says "Mommy! Baby hungry!" I asked if Piper was hungry, too, and she nodded emphatically and said "YEAH!" Needless to say, we ate lunch.

Yani is another animal altogether, lately. I’ve been listening in on her phone conversations with her BFF, Gabby, and they are starting to talk about how ‘hot’ boys are. *sigh* Do I even need to say that I’m not ready for that? Her 12 year old body is going through alot of the changes into teenagerhood and it’s becoming noticeable. Her jean size is now a 1 or 3 in Juniors. It’s not because she’s gained any weight or anything, it’s just all redistributing to the necessary areas to create curves. I warned her that she was cursed with her mom’s butt and she looked horrified! lol She’ll appreciate it one day, guaranteed.

Miles has some stuff going on that is making him a little rough to deal with, but Joe and I are aware that the things that are going on are hard for a 7 year old to understand so we’re being really patient. He’s a wonderful kid, truly, just needs his parents to be understanding when things are rough. We aren’t always great (ok, hardly ever) at being on top of what’s going on, but this time we’re determined. His school is really impressed with how well he’s doing. They had to create a program to keep up with his reading levels and he’s in advanced classes for every other subject. His teacher told us at the start of the year that he had behavoir problems, but at the last PT conference, we were informed that those were mostly gone. He’d settled down a lot and was so helpful to the teachers and working on being kind to other kids. Plus, he’s daggone cute. 😉

I need to get a lot of the wedding pictures from Sara now that I have a computer that can handle that many things. The old desktop was, well, old and really didn’t need to be bogged down by 800 pics, but the laptop is plenty fast w/ plenty of room, so we can support them. I want to get them from her and just resize most of them, but there are still a few I’d like to clean up and edit a bit. Need to get print outs of more. I only have one 8×10 printed, that we got for Christmas. It’s the one where I’m resting my head on Joe’s shoulder and he’s kissing my forehead. It’s, by far, my favorite, but there are others I dig. 🙂

This might be a long entry, but I can’t tell b/c I’m writing it in Notepad and there’s not really any format. My paragraphs are long lines that trail across the screen. It’s kind of fun.

Do you guys know I’ve been writing? I started early in the fall and have about 4.5 chapters written. It’s a fiction novel, hopefully. Joe has been uber-supportive of it and has even been kind enough to read and re-read to help me pick up on mistakes or tell me what I’m missing. I don’t know any publishers, but I’ll keep my eyes out, I guess. I’m hoping to have it finished by summer and ready to print and mail. It’s probably nothing, really, but I figure I should at least try, right? I’ve been told a dozen times that I write well and interestingly, so why not see if it’s true enough to get published. 🙂

I just remembered that Miss Syd has read the very early part of it… wonder if she’d like to read anymore… 😉

(If she does, she should send me a P

rivate Note w/ her email and I’ll send her a draft of it…)

Ok, I think I’m gonna call this entry "done" and get back to getting things done. Hope everyone is having a wonderful morning and feels like leaving me notes. 🙂 Kidding, sort of. Ok, not kidding. I miss you guys!

I loved the old game systems. I’m all about Mario Brothers and Nintendo. I had a Sega and played so much Sonic. That’s really the only type of games I’ll play. I loved the 12 year old looking horrified that she’d have her mom’s butt. I can relate there. Is your story the paranormal one?
