Ok, I’m finally sitting down and writing an ever-loving entry!! 🙂
Let’s see where to start, where to start.
Hi everyone!! I’ve missed you all immensely and I’m working on reading up on everyone. I can’t possibly leave enough notes to make up for the MONTHS gone, but I’ll leave them where I can! Things are crazy/beautiful around here, though. Joe and I got married, as you know. It was wonderful and perfectly “us”. I think we both felt that way. We’re still living in the same house and finally getting things done around here. I hung up pictures the other day and I have to tell you, every time I walk into the rooms I’m astounded at how much more I like living here b/c of something as simple as family photos. It’s stupid, maybe, but we moved around a lot when I was growing up and b/c of that, my mom rarely hung things on the walls, so we were always looking at blank, white, sterile apartment plaster. It’s not very homey, you know.
The wedding went off without (mostly) any difficulties. My music person had to bail at the last moment (not her fault!) so the person who picked it up was running late trying to get things done in time. I walked down the aisle to complete silence. It was surreal, but fitting. Ok, I should probably lay out the whole thing, huh? 😉
Tell you what, I’ll write a whole other entry JUST about the wedding and put it one before this, okie? 🙂
At any rate, we’ve been married now for 4 whole months. It feels like longer some days and shorter others. We’ve lived together for more than a year and a half, so maybe that’s why. Some of this married stuff is pretty confusing and hard to figure out. It seems like nothing should have changed much and we both thought we were going into this without expectations of much, but I think we were deluding ourselves. Being a wife is vastly different from being a girlfriend. I’m pretty independent on some things and they are very hard to change. Plus, I’m pretty sure I know everything so it’s hard to trust that he knows what he’s talking about. (that WAS sarcasm!) No seriously, if anyone has any insight on how to do this whole married thing, we’re taking applications for marriage counselors! 🙂
The kids are doing pretty well. We had a bunch of bad weather right before Christmas Break, so they ended up getting closer to 18 days off of school instead of 10 or something. They didn’t seem to mind, but Joe and I were pulling our hair out. I finally understand how my mom felt when she said she was ready to send our asses back to school whether it was in session or not. The last week of the vacation was the worst. The Saturday after Christmas, Piper picked up some flu bug (pretty sure from Joe’s parents house) and spent a good chunk of the morning puking every ten minutes. Poor thing. 2 days later, Joe had it. The next day, I got a day of it. Then, New Years Eve, Miles woke up puking and spent most the day in bed. Around 6p that day, Yani joined the ranks of the heaving. We spent the night staying up to make sure kids were okay and playing cards. Thanks to never having the correct time anywhere in the house, we even missed the ball drop in Times Square! We thought we had a minute or two and ran to turn on the TV, but there was confetti everywhere and whats-his-face was talking about how miraculous it was. *sigh* It was okay though. We just took it easy New Years Day while everyone recovered and nursed tender tummies. I don’t think we ate anything heavy for 2 or 3 days.
THEN, just as I thought we were outta the woods and completely ready for school to kick back in on January 5th, Miles woke up that Monday with a severe sore throat and a 103 degree fever. The poor Dr’s office was triple booked and couldn’t see us, so they sent us to the ER b/c his symptoms sounded bad, I’m sure. Off we went to the hospital to find out that little guy has a bad case of Strep Throat and Tonsillitis. Wtf! Guess where we picked THAT up? You got it, Joe’s parents house… again. I’ve told Joe that we have to get on them about FULL disclosure regarding that household’s illnesses BEFORE we come over!! They have 9 people or something, living in that house and someone is always sick. I understand that colds are colds and we don’t worry too much about that, but when someone is PUKING or has a highly infectious bacterial problem (i.e. strep) you HAVE to tell the people who are bringing their young kids over!! Anyway, he’s been fever free for 2 days and on antibiotics since Monday, so he went back to school (finally) today and I’m in heaven. Kind of. I’m super super beat the last few days and not feeling 100% so I think I just need to take it easy. (thank you Tami)
So, that’s us in a current nutshell. Go back one entry for wedding details and if I can figure it out, a few pictures! 🙂
Love you all!!
