SURVIVING

Eleven degrees and winds gusting to 40 mph this am. Snow is  still falling and being blown everywhere. It is a very fine snow designed to be blow down the back of a person’s neck or up one sleeve . My house looked like some mad fiend had coated it with snow stucco. I had to dig my car out at 6 am, 7 am,8 am and again at 9 am because of the snow  and the plows. When finally I was ready to get onto the roads I coated the space I was in with cat litter rather than rock salt. I find that Kitty Litter just mixes with the snow rather than melts it and allow it to freeze later.

As I drove to work I prayed to my higher power to protect me from the idiots on the road ( anyone but me was an idiot ) and HP heard me. I had texted a friend in AA who is an Airline Stewardess asking how she was fairing with the storm and she texted me back a photo from the back of an empty plane and the message Fort Meyers, Fl.  Grounded.

My plans do not extend past finishing up work. Even Doris, she of the  Worlds’ healthiest appetite, indicates she doesn’t want to go to dinner tonight, I think I have enough meetings in the bank to just relax at home. How does Penne Pasta with Meat Sauce ( Jared ) and some bacon cooked and crumbled into it sound ? I do have a1/2 loaf of Italian Bread in the freezer ………

Staying in sounds like a very smart choice and Penne Pasta is perfect for a night in.

A night in sounds perfect on a night like tonight. So does the penne but hold the bacon on mine. Stay safe & warm.

I’m hungry…what time will it be ready? 🙂 It’s rather cold here in MN, and our governor has closed all schools in the state this coming Monday (when the high will be -17 where I live…that is without the wind chill factored in).

Glad you are OK and safe. I was thinking of you at about 3 this morning, when the news on the radio spoke of your extreme wether. It also spoke of the homeless.

dinner sounds great. tell me about the kitty litter. what kind? the old kind or the clumping kind? how much do you put down? it keeps the snow from refreezing? it stays unmelted? i’m interested in this cause i really am very afraid of ice and falling again. take care,

Just stay warm and safe. That’s all that is important. 🙂

ryn: you’re right. i don’t remember ash and such. but, it might be because i grew up in florida. didn’t get very cold there in the winter. i’m gonna get a bag of kitty litter to use on the sidewalk to the driveway. i’m thinking it will work better than the sand and salt i have now. i am so scared of falling after what i did to my knee back in may. take care,

I have managed to stay indoors since Thursday at 4:30 when I got home just as the snow was starting to stick. I have to go out early this evening for church, but I think I’ll have my chauffeur drive me as the city doesn’t think our street is important enough to plow. Stay warm!
