NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED
As part of my planning for today at the Meeting last night I knew just who to see and was very glad P. was there. He has been attending the Saturday meeting that I lead and has helped set up or close many times. When I asked him to Lead and close the meeting to free me up to go on the Walk against Altheimers Disease I knew his answer and it was ” SURE”. AA has a custom to never say no when asked to do something in AA. So now I would be able to set up and then leave for the Walk. That was the plan.my system
I opened my eyes and glanced at the silent Alarm Clock and saw the flashing Indicator light 7:05…and my feet hit the floor. My brain schreeched overslept and flooded my veins with adrenalin . Dressed; out the door; into my car; stop to buy milk and arrive at the Church only a half hour late but with my heart pounding. J. a young beginner that I am training as a helper was huddled in the dark and the rain. I made sure to swap phone numbers with him for the future.
I started the Coffee pots and Tea warmer while J started setting chairs. Two other Members also arrived in and helped as well. Routine took over and the Meeting began and I was able to depart.
Last night kidding around I told people that I hoped for rain. God heard and responded with His unique manner. There was rain but not enough to cancel the walk but enough to make being outside quite uncomfortable. I managed to connect with my group in spite of throngs of people. I don’t have a valid estimate of Walkers but in tomorrows news story I will read the Official count and divide by 2 and come close. I saw many family members there ranging from my age to infants. The rain slowed and did not members become a factor.
PS Spell checker is not working
Well home now and on a Happy Note I just watched Rutgers beat Illinois.
my new life story seems to be me running behind all the time… never used to be this way… and I don’t like it!

You didn’t say, did the alarm just fail? Or did you forget to set it?
