LOST TREASURE IS RECOVERED

Today I went to the Automobile Dealer for an oil change and correction of a minor nagging problem. I had taken the car back when I got about 1000 miles on it because the ash-coin tray wouldn’t close proberly. I chuckle when I think how marketing has changed. If you want a regular ash tray you can put butts in you pay extra or you use the tray as a coin tray. The mechanic ordered the part and in about a week I got a card saying it was there. Then the tray knowing this started closing properly. I told the Shop forman that everything solved itself. On my drive to the Dealer today the thing wouldn’t close. I asked and the tray was still in parts so they installed it. This involved taking the entire dash out. Behind the ash tray they found $2.75 in quarters jamming the tray. Problem solved but another instance of an engineer causing a problem as this is definately a design problem. The back of the tray should be higher to keep the coins from getting behind it. It would be nice if I ever see a recall or service notice involving ” Tom’s Tray.” My 15 minutes of fame.

Same thing happened to me, except after leaving the dealership the whole thing fell out of the dashboard. Ash trays, bah humbug!!!! Hugs from [Skyelady]

So, what did you do with the $2.75!? What a unique concept, ThomaS…the back of the tray should be higher! I sometimes wonder if engineers aren’t in some kind of conspiracy against logic. [Katherine]

I don’t wonder; I KNOW that the ones who designed my lawnmower wanted to make sure that everytime I try to start it I throw my back out. I’ll bet none of them ever mowed a yard! [Katherine]
