JUST MY LUCK
Saturday morning I awoke as normal at 5;30 AM and started to hit the floor. As I swung my right leg out I had a feeling of something being off and as my foot touched the floor I knew just from the extreme pain I felt.
WTF
My other leg had followed and soon all my weight was centered on my right foot and I lifted my body to relieve the pain using a chair back. The pain was unexpected and really bad and unexpected. I hobbled to the kitchen and make a cup of coffee and hopped back to sit at my computer.Sitting relieve my pain yet installed fear in my brain. I could not sit long because I had to get to the meeting to do the set up. There was no time to call some one else and this conflicted with my ego anyway ” no one makes coffee and sets up as well as I do “.
So I very gingerly proceeded to dress and put on my largest shoe and hobble/hop to my car. The 14 steps from my apartment was an project navigated on my butt one step at a time.
sort of used my left foot to control the gas and kept my speed low and made a right turn to loop back at the Highway to cross it. When I had to brake to stop I flinched and almost went out onto the highway against the light. The lack of early traffic saved me. I continued on my way almost creeping down the windy back roads to the church.
If anyone had been watching I must have looked really weird as I unlocked doors and moved to the kitchen. The kitchen had enough counters that I was able to do a hop step all around. A half hour later two of my helpers arrived and soon had the chairs set up for the two meetings. I relaxed and tried to figure out what had happened. I had no memory of how I has caused this trauma.
I had arranged for a young woman to run the meeting. I do this when someone achieves a ear of sobriety and people really like this public recognition.
Since awakening I had an idea running in my brain that I will work out of this but when the meeting was ended and the rooms returned to good shape I had to face that my idea wasn’t going to happen. I decided to drive to the Medical store front operation nearby for professional help.I did and traffic was much heavier but I drove carefully. Before I entered I called my Son Rob and updated him. Note I did this after I arrived so that he could not insist me to wait for him to come and take me. After about 2 hours an X Ray showed a small bone in my foot broken No Boot, no cast just an ace bandage and I was free to leave.Again I called Rob and he came to take me home. He had his wife the RN, my two Granddaughters, one an Md, one fiancee of the other Granddaughter and I think a Marching Band somewhere in the background.
I spent Sunday watching Football and being nice to the visitors. I still have no idea of how I injured myself.
Ouch! I don’t know if I would have tried all of that driving! Hope your mystery wound heals quickly. Man, the things a guy will do to see an entire football game.
