INSANITY IS HEREDITARY: YOU CATCH IT FROM THE KID

Today began with great promise. The sky this morning was bold and colorful with streaks of orange and yellow running rampant across the horizon. There was a brisk wind moving the seagulls into ever-changing orbits. Gradually during the day the temperature rose to the mid fifty range. It seemed to whisper” It is coming, Spring.”

The Office today was also full of sounds as the Health Club next door seemed to have a special on weight training. Their rack for Bar Bells is adjacent to the common wall between the offices and I can hear whenever someone uses them. Then I will sweat in sympathy.

Tonight was spent with my wife. That means it was well spent. First we went shopping to buy green shirts for two of the grandchildren. After all tomorrow is St. Patrick’s day and they should be suitably clad. We also had to drop off coffee, milk, bread and cat food because it is too hard for my daughter to shop with the kids and her husband is traveling this week. Why you go food shopping on Sunday and get a $200.00 order and be out of the above by Tuesday is beyond my comprehension but I accept the fact that she did need the items. Sometime soon I will expound on one of my favorite themes for when I get up on the soap box and preach. Insanity is hereditary, you catch it from your children.

The days are racing by when I look back on my past since joining A.A. Yet the ten days to go to reach the ten year mark promise to be the longest in my life. I know that the disease is out there watching and waiting for me to forget who and what I am. Experience and the program of A.A. have given me certain tools to use in this situation. I have taken a speaking commitment for the 24th and have committed to lead a beginners meeting on the 27th of the month. I am also planning on how to cope with the Media and all the fans after I pass my dry date. Autographs for a fee only.

Today included a visit to my daughter and her kids so rates an automatic 70. Throw in a nice evening with my wife and a quick meal out raises by 10 points and the promise of Spring adds a bonus 5 points.
